It seems like the teams the Pats beat damaged themselves in the aftermath.

The Pats didn’t beat the Bills in the playoffs, but the Bills damaged themselves in the aftermath of their loss to Denver.

Which AFC team, in the aftermath of the Pats last win, made moves that appear to have strengthened them for the future?

This was not a gr8 year to be looking for a new HC.
Looks like Jacksonville is the only team that really didn’t blow up in the aftermath of everything.

Houston didn’t do anything immediately bad in the interim, but unfortunately for them Stroud’s playoff performance has left that whole team with real question marks.

I'm still bullish on the Chargers. They have a strong D, good, young QB (who's back is up against the wall to get to the next level) I think a new OC and another draft/FA period with all that cap space will help them pass Denver and the Jills.

If Herbert doesn't have a monster year with The Kingpin as his OC, I'll be shocked.

I dont recall Rodney missing an Int but I remember Brandon Meriweather had an Int bounce of his hands as well that drive.

Understandable to not be able to recall it: you saw it only once, as it happened, then never again... We saw Rodney put his hands to his helmet, then were immediately taken to the 2:00 Warning plethora of commercials, whereupon play resumed following their conclusion with barely a mention, if that...

Starting at 1:52... Burgess gets a finger on the dam ball just as it's about to fall into Rodney's hands...What a piece of **** throw that was, too; ****ing Deserved to be intercepted.

EDIT: Thanks to RW for providing the still photo showing Burress' tip just as it was falling into Rodney's hands...

The 2 killer misses on defense in 07

1)Woods not recovering the fumble
2 Samuels missed interception

Samuels was catchable but required a good play

Woods no excuse

If he could've been faulted for anything, it would've been for being a fraction of a second late in starting his jump; he was this close to reaching his apex when the dam ball hit the top his fingers...

Two of our Three opponents in these POs fired their OCs after they lost to us! That's gotta be, like, some kind of record, right?

Since we’re reliving painful memories, two plays after Harrison’s potential INT, the Giants have a 4th and 1. Wilfork loses his footing and gets no push against the NYG offensive lineman. Jacobs falls forward for the first down right where Wilfork would have been.

All Asante Samuel had to do was NOT BLOW HIS COVERAGE, and Rodney wouldn't have had to run halfway across the field to even make that a contested play.
Wasn't $amuel also out of position on the pass that Drew Bennett dropped in the 03 divisional?

Anything good that I thought about Herbert went out the window after that Patriots game. Regardless of any physical abilities he's not a fighter and he's not a leader.

If what one rumor suggesting when exactly Nix broke his ankle is true, then I can certainly understand Payton's frustration with it...at was
Missed that. What exactly was the rumor? He kick a bathroom stall door or something?

that final drive omg

****ing corrupt refs not doing their job and calling holding OR in the grasp on the helmet catch

Wilfork slipping on 4th and 1

the Harrison play

the Samuel dropped interception

the Meriweather dropped interception

Samuel blowing coverage on the helmet catch causing Harrison to run all the way over. and then Harrison playing the ball instead of just pulling Tyree’s arm

Seau (I think it was him?) messing up on the Burress touchdown and refusing to change the play, leaving 5’9 Hobbs 1 on 1 with 6’5 Burress. I believe Harrison spoke about this?

**** that mother****ing game

Based on what?

Based on what?

Based upon watching him on the field and on the field. It was like a wooden indiannwas at quarterback for the Chargers. Zero emotion or passion, just one long blank stare.

I don't read too much into emotion on the field. Look at Drake. Until making that 3rd down vs DEN that was the 1st public showing of emotion from him.

And they knew the play was coming too...

Maye interacts with and encourages his teammates throughout games, Herbert didn't do any of that, he just sat there staring blankly ahead.

I had a positive opinion of Herbert prior to that game, but I was shocked by Herbert's demeanor in that game. He wasn't a leader by any measure:

mod edit: with the super bowl over, this thread being a bit cumbersome (200+ pages, 4k replies), and more than a year old, time to start a new thread for 2026. Continue discussion here:
