Let me preface this by saying, Maye is my favorite Patriot right now. But im EXTREMELY concerned about his playoff performances.

His playoffs so far

43 completions 77 attempts 55.8 % completion percentage 4 TD passes, 2 INTs and 3 lost fumbles.

He’s made some key plays, but he’s also hurt the team with turnovers and putting them in a bad position. Thank god for the defense, which has put the Pats in the SB.

I need to see a better performance in the SB, I’m not convinced he can just flip a switch from below average to good though. The pressure really is on Maye now. The question is, can he play well enough to win the SB. I have concerns, and honestly, I’m not sure about him being “the guy” until he proves it. A lot of pressure on his shoulders for a young guy.

I kinda feel bad for Drake, he’s been put in a situation where he has to carry the team offensively. Behind a shoddy OLine, where he’s constantly under pressure. 15 sacks against in 3 games. Other playoff QBs get sacked 1 or 2 times a game.
All vs top 5 defenses and 2 played in complete blizzards.

You need a much bigger sample size before any conclusions can be made, the weather was clearly a huge factor in the last 2 games neither team could effectively do anything on offense.

I would be much more concerned if he looked like this in decent weather.

Also you could argue the pressure is more on Sam Darnold, everyone expects them to win, the pressure was more on the Patriots today losing to Stidham would have been a stinker.

Maye needs to be on point. Obviously. If we win it will take scoring. We are very likely not holding Seattle under 20.

IDK how best to attack their D. I don't think they have any obvious weak spot. But they don't have a single rusher to absolutely ruin your day. They have good pass rushers but not that 1 edge guy who absolutely kills you. So Maye may be under pressure but won't need to be as worried about those instant strip sacks and can get more comfortable holing it.

As for D the job is simple... but not easy. Stop the run game and slow down JSN. Every team knows this but easier said than done. No hiccups Gonzo. And Gonzo will need help. As for the run game... Just need to play disciplined and be ready for Walker to bounce it outside if nothing is there.

After that obvious things... wins turnover battle... low penalties.

If you're waiting for another Brady or going to compare everything to Brady you should probably just give up watching football, it's an impossible standard for anyone to ever reach.

He's a 2nd team all pro and in the Super Bowl in his second season, 17-3, that's not enough?
Glad we were playing Stiddy: Maye didn't throw it well Today: even before the weather went bat $h!t.

The pressure is on Will Campbell to actually block and not do this, this is how your QB gets sped up and you get bad QB play.

Besides their DL, need to be weary of LB Ernest Jones IV, CB Witherspoon & S/LB Emmanwori. All three of these guys are game wreckers.

-Jones IV: Great in coverage (6 INTs)

-Witherspoon: Versatile/ aggressive hitter who’s always around the ball.

-Emmanwori: Versatile nickel who allows Seattle to stop the run from nickel & dime defenses. They never have line up in a “traditional base” defense.

Means.. pop should have a huge game and Henry will again be absent along with hooper. It's gonna be diggs, Boutte , pop and hollins . Ocassional big play by williams .
We Need aTE like Dalton Kincaid H Henry entered the witness protection program.

Emmanwori was very impressive today.
Great young player.

Our special teams needs to be significantly better than it was today. Especially against Seattle who is one of the best ST units in the league. We can't afford to play an entire half with bad field position against Seattle's offense like we did today.

He looks like a totally different QB compared to the regular season.

A regression was expected due to the defenses he has faced. I don't think anybody expected it to be this severe.

Nobody will top Brady. Not even Mahomes. He is an outlier.

edit: double poast

I thought Campbell did a little better today, but wasn’t watching him like a hawk or anything. Many seem to think he was awful but i thought he held up well against an elite pass rusher from what i saw( i noticed one scary pressure where Drake luckily flung a short pass out)

Landry I don’t feel too good about. He hasn’t been right since the initial injury, I don’t think much will change with that knee in 2 weeks

Spillane SOUNDS very encouraging here:

Can someone remind me who the guy on the VIKINGS was who did his face the way that Spillane has done up??

So MayeVP got his team to the Super Bowl while StafforVP failed to get his team there.

The last player to win the League MVP and also the Super Bowl was Mahomes in 2022. Prior to that, it was Kurt Warner in 1999 and Terrell Davis in 1998.. It's only been done 11 times in the Super Bowl era and only once since the year 2000..

He looked shaky in the regular season when there was bad weather at the start of the Tampa and Cincy games to be fair, it just happened to clear up both times.

He threw a pick 6 and sailed a bunch of balls in the first Q of those 2 games.

I'm not worried about him in the Super Bowl unless it's raining.

I think Maye will play well. His OL will not have AS hard of a time, he will have all his WRs healthy, and he will be playing in nice warm weather in SoCal on a neutral field. McDaniels will have two weeks to come up with the perfect plan and prep Maye.

SoCal? Has anyone told the folks in Santa Clara & the Niners ownership that the game has been moved?

thielen used to do it i believe.

Maye can't blame the weather this time. He's no Brady in the Cold or Snow: fair weather boy.
Maye led this team to the Sb and 17-3 why would he need to blame something.
It’s a strange fan that within a couple of hours of his team getting to the SB feels the need to take a shot at its best player.
