In my continued quest to find good day 3 options, let me introduce

Charles Demmings, CB, Stephen F Austin 6-1, 190lbs
The reason I decided to look at him was that he's a Senior Bowl attendee so there's clearly NFL interest in him. He reportedly has sub 4.4 speed and is a press corner.

4 INTs this year and only 1 missed tackle all year.

Treydan Stukes v Keionte Scott

I was thinking about who would be the better fit for the Patriots should the choice come down to either/or. My passion for Scott is undimmed but I think the answer is Stukes.

The problem for Scott is how he'd be used. He's a backup for Marcus Jones for sure but to use Scott as more than a backup really needs changing the defense where a linebacker would probably need to be replaced. Scott can be best used in a similar role to Kyle Hamilton, he just doesn't have that size. I'm all for reforming the defensive system to suit him, I'm just not sure that happens.

As for Stukes, there are a number of ways he can be used within our current system. Backup for Marcus Jones for sure but at 6'1", 195, he has the size to backup the outside corner and you could put him one-on-one on a receiving TE, something you can't ask of Scott. And then finally there's his upside as a FS/nickel safety.

I love Scott and both are great character fits for Vrabel but Stukes just slots into this Patriots defense more smoothly than Scott in my opinion if you want them to be more than a Marcus Jones backup.

At his size I think De'Angelo Ponds might struggle as a starter in the NFL but if he's there in round 4 for us I'd absolutely consider him as a premier backup at both the nickel and outside corner. I love prospects who punch above their weight.

At his size I think De'Angelo Ponds might struggle as a starter in the NFL but if he's there in round 4 for us I'd absolutely consider him as a premier backup at both the nickel and outside corner. I love prospects who punch above their weight.

Some intel on CB prospects and it isn't great news for us

1. Jermod McCoy is good to go - "very little concern"

2. Treydan Stukes - Some teams are looking at him as an outside corner. Some teams have a 2nd round grade on him.

3. Charles Demmings - As I've previously reported, he's expected to run in the low 4.3s and jump 44" inches. no surprise with those numbers there are several day 2 grades (boo!)
