MVP thread

If this is true and voters are basing their votes on the meaning to your legacy of being given an award or the number of years you have left to win another, rather than who was the most valuable player the system is horribly broken.

Yup, it’s broken, like pretty much everything for which the writers covering the NFL who are the voters for these recognitions are responsible. Do not expect intellectual honesty or consistency from those cretins.

I apologize for putting up an erroneous thread earlier to the effect that the MVP had gone to Stafford. There was a story to that effect on my regular news site which was only up briefly, it seems, because when i went back after putting up the thread, the story was gone. I have no idea what happened. So I acted in good faith if apparently a little precipitously. The story has not reappeared. Weird.

Gotta give Stafford credit. Definitely has more balls than Manning or Rodgers. Not afraid to throw into tight windows with the season on the line.

Eh whatever. The only erroneous thing here is being forced to have to interrogate and research every publication for accuracy because websites prioritize clicks over accuracy.

Hey buddy, that means even you or I have a shot at MVP, don't knock it!

The narrative has been set, heroic MVP Stafford leads his team to victory in the final seconds, completely ignoring how he sucked through three quarters and put them in that hole.

Steelers game was pretty bad

75.6%
102.1 QB rating
313 total yards (268 passing, 45 rushing)
2 TD
1 INT that was more on the OL for allowing a DL to tip the ball
1 fumble

isn't nearly as bad as either of Stafford's games against the Panthers or Falcons

And the MVP race, which took Maye like 8 weeks of stellar play in order to become the presumptive winner, came down to a week 18 game where both teams played garbage teams, while Maye arguably outplayed Stafford. But 4 TDs against the Cardinals drew the random “winner” card.
