Ok, so let's talk about it

It is still mourned. It was the pre-internet days of car & motorcycle restoration. Finding parts was an adventure back then; a combination of magazines, shows & swap meets, knowing a guy who knew a guy, club meetings and oddball junkyard visits. I came across the TR3 in a Mom & Pop junkyard I went to for Jag parts, she was sitting in mud to her rockers, a sorry sight to see. Our oldest son was with me, he saw it and it was love at 1st sight. Great dad moment, right there and then I knew in my heart we'd given birth to at least one gearhead.

The boys are all men now and as it turned out they've all got gas in their veins. They all either have a classic car or bike, some have both. The shared passion for the Pats and wrenching keeps us close.
I know how you feel. Still pains me to have sold my Elan SE4. It was unbelievably fun to drive. But it needed work, I didn’t have facilities and was moving around too much. Sold it to a friend from SCCA racing circles so at least I know it went to a good home. In a different universe I’d’ve still had it to share with my daughter as she was growing up. C’est la vie.

The next Triumph, there was an Austin in between, after the TR3 was a Spitfire. They shared front suspension and steering parts with the Elan. I know this from using Elan junkyard parts for the resto. They were a straight bolt up. From there it was another Jag and since then it's all been Detroit iron
