I have seen nothing that she decided to press charges against Barmore. Everything I’ve seen says she declined to press charges as recently as early December, and the authorities (local PD? Prosecutor? ???) decided to proceed with charges anyway. I don’t know but I’m guessing it’s misdemeanor not felony because the commonwealth would have to get a grand jury to indict for a felony if the victim doesn’t press charges.

Agree that the league will likely not do anything until after any arraignment.

That's a good point to clarify, I did not realize that the charges were potentially coming from somewhere besides the girlfriend herself. That makes it... worse, somehow? Like someone in a clerk's office saw the the Diggs paperwork come through on 12/16 and said "ooooh **** let me slide in this Barmore dirt too"

I still think Diggs’ chef’s lawyer shook the bushes about his case, making noise and going to the press to up the ante, and that struck a nerve about making sure it doesn’t look like Patriots players are getting special treatment.

And if the rumor about Barmore trying to use his clout as a Pats player on a cop for a traffic stop is true there could be an element of payback. They notice and remember that ****. What goes around comes around.

But are we really surprised the PR on this, 2 of them in the same day is bad, and people noting the Patriots support?

I question the PR team up there because if they knew the Barmore stuff was going to hit, why put themselves out there? Let it resolve.

Great points. I believe what's huge here and as to why both Diggs and Barmore will be eligible to play is because neither was arrested. In peppers situation wasn't he arrested?

It's horseshit. You can be placed on the CEL anytime. It's an arbitrary decision that does not require a precedent.

Peppers was put on the list after being arrested, before the legal process even had a chance to play out. Peppers was later acquitted on all charges except one but lost an entire month because he was on the list.

Peppers admitted the cocaine was his. Big mistake. Cost him a month of pay checks. Even Jones claimed someone else put the guns in his travel bag.

BTW Peppers was primarily a ST player for the Steelers this year. Dugger was a starter for the Steelers including two Pick-6s. The Steelers like Dugger. White is a rotational DL player for the 49ers - they like him. J Andrews is a starter for the Texans - again the Texans like him.

J Andrews would have helped. Everyone in NE views White as a 2nd round draft pick so his production is weak, but the 49ers view White as a 6th round draft pick so his production is solid (kind of the way we view Farmer or Ponder). I am not sure about Dugger, I think Hawkins is more of a FS than Dugger, but is Mapu better than Dugger? - hard to believe that. Maybe the team saw it as a plus to get Dugger's and White's compensation off the books?

There are any number of serious issues raised by all this. Misogyny as a feature of the black subculture, as expressed in the music of that subculture. The pretty obviously superannuated assumption that "sports builds character." The proper role of team athletics in our (failed) education system. I’m totally convinced that McDonald’s should be pilloried, and the personnel who continued to run coffee makers excessively hot to improve extraction and profitability even after complaints should have done jail time. So, you’re right, not a good example, but one that seemed appropriate in context.

But I’m also totally convinced that awarding the plaintiff $2.7million in punitive damages was excessive and shows a major flaw in our tort system. That’s why it remains in mainstream memeland, and obscures the merits of the actual complaint.

Aside from the likely non-issue facts of either case being prosecutable, the separate issue of judgement and common sense by both players is an ongoing concern.

Barmore now has a history of losing control of himself…red flag.

Diggs is a ****ing moron for letting what was likely AT MOST a few hundred grand in actual cash potentially cost him millions in endorsements and even salary.

So... appears Barmore had a dispute with a family member over the thermostat in The house.. reported by news7 he allegedly pushed her to the floor.. and grabbed her neck.. she took pictures of bruising... this happened back in August..reportedly.. the team was aware of it.
