He's way better than those 2.
Eli had 2 SB runs, outside of that he was a very average QB.
I have always been firmly in the camp that Eli should not be in the HOF.
Rivers really had a better career but he didn’t win a Sb
Manning had a worse career but won 2

Tough Stafford argument because each one beats him on the criteria the other one doesn’t

I think he oughta get it. It's "most valuable player" to the winner's team. I'm not sure Stafford - who is having an excellent year - is even the most valuable player on his own team. He's playing a role on an overall excellent team. Drake is the driving reason the Pat's are a genuinely contending team. Without him - let's be honest - they ain't all that. If you take the name of the award seriously, Drake is the obvious choice.

And that’s fine but imo he’s still outside the circle of elite within his era of quarterbacks.
I agree, he played in an era with not only HOF QBs, but guys who will ultimately go down as top 3, 5, 10 in the history of the NFL.
I can't discredit him becuase he played the same time as Brady/Rodgers/Brees/Manning.
That's like saying Yzerman shouldn't be in the HOF (which he is), because he played the same time as Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier...

He’s also buddies with Stafford going back to their Lions days. So there’s a tint of bias to his vote but whatever.
True, but he's preaching that SOS narrative.

For sure, guys like lafontaine and Oates are hall of famers (deservedly so) despite not being amongst the truly elite centers you mentioned above.

You can slice and dice a lot of different stats.
Maye has played the 32 strength of schedule, Stafford the 6th.
There are arguments to be made for both, and objectively either winning it would not be some grand travesty.
Rams are currently the 6th seed and could very well slide to the to the 7th seed with a loss this Sunday. They will finish 3rd in the division. The Rams were regarded as having the "best roster" in the league. I didn't agree with it, but most in the media thought the Pats had one of the worst rosters in the league. They will most likely finish 14-3 with the #2 seed. Stafford getting the award would be a bad look for the league.

Bottom line for me:
Based on this year I think Maye should win it.
While also realizing we are also Pats fans here, and while we all like to think we are objective, bias will certainly work it's way into our opinions.
You can make the case for both guys, and whoever wins it will be deserving and it won't be some grand conspiracy.

It’s likely still going to be Stafford with Maye second and that’s fine. Stafford is not a terrible choice. Maye isn’t worried about this anyway there are much bigger fish to fry. This team’s window is opening and he’s a huge reason why.

Awards like these are akin to a popularity contest, no more. When’s the last time an OL was one? Yea…..no blocky blocks and said “MVP” can’t throw for 4k+ yards to get said “award”.

You got several documented mvp voters saying today they’ll still vote for Stafford.

I’ve never heard strength of schedule mentioned in an MVP conversation until now.

I'm watching McAffee right now.
They had two guys on who have MVP votes and strength of schedule was talked about.
Orlovskly was harping in SOS and he has an MVP vote, he certainly seemed to indicate he was voting for Stafford and SOS was a big reason why.

If SOS is so important then why isn't he talking about how they performed against common opponents?

Ok so Maye gets the Jets twice a year. Stafford gets the Cardinals so what's the difference?

Maye is the MVP. Period. F em.

Is there an outside chance of having Co MVPs again this season ie Brett Farve & Barry Sanders in 1997,Peyton Manning and Steve McNair in 2003?

Is it *possible*? Yes. Is it *likely*? No. [They switched to a 10-5-3-2-1 system that makes ties unlikely.]

Are you arguing with me, or the 2 guys that actually have MVP votes and talked about SOS?
Additionally, they did talk about about common opponents and obv gave Maye the check mark.
Both guys are deserving, and whoever wins it it won't be some historical travesty.

The argument is with the idiots on TV delivering their vote with a game to go.

Travesty? No.

But the argument is in value and there is no argument that Stafford is more valuable than Drake.

The rams would do just fine with 20 other QBs.

Who else is gonna turn the pats from worst team to the best team in a single season with almost a 400% increase in wins year over year?

It's not just MVP worthy. It's essential unprecedented.

Yes, Orlovsky has a vote.

Last year the voters included Tom Curran and Ben Volin, as well as Brady and Bruschi.

In any case, the actual individual ballots will likely be made public. . . .

I think Maye is deserving, let's get that out of the way, so obv I think he is more valuable to his team than Stafford.
But we can't factually state the Rams would be just as good with 20 other QBs.
That's like the fan on the Bills forum who said the Pats would win at least 8 games with Flacco or Sanders as our starting QB.
It's a close race, both guys are deserving.
I think Maye is more deserving, but it's completely justifiable for people backing Stafford.

We can factually state that one of these guys is working with real offensive weapons and one isn't.

I'm not gonna squabble about 7 more total TDs from the guy who has 83 more passes and seven 1 yard TDs.

I think the value is clear.

Just my take.

And it's a take we share, but I understand people backing Stafford.
There's a ton of stats we can slide and dice.
I just heard a stat that Maye has played the easiest defensive schedule, Stafford has played the 2nd toughest.
Those things will be evaluated with the same weight as strength of offensive weapons.
That's all I'm saying, there are arguments for both.
