I know a lot of people put value on individual stats, but I’ve never felt stats that don’t result in winning aren’t very meaningful.
There are many reasons I feel that way.
The purpose of playing the game is to win.
If your play doesn’t result in a win, pumping it up by saying stays were good doesn’t change that in my book.
Stats are not created equally. Especially for QBs.
Putting your team in a hole and then throwing for a bunch of yards to come back and fall short is not a positive thing to me.
Playing in tight meaningful games makes stat building harder but your value is much greater.
Almost every great winning QB in NFL history started with a team that stunk. So the supporting cast or team was dysfunctional doesn’t make much of an argument for me. Brady, Montana, elway, Bradshaw, among others started in teams that were near worst in the league and THEIR PRESENCE was the impetus for the turnaround.
Stafford got a bit of redemption winning a SB in LA but aside from that one year his career playoff record is 1-5.
