OT: Matthew Judon Being Waived in Miami

To me Adalius Thomas is Exhibit A of a player falling off the proverbial cliff.

Excellent player in 2007, injured in 2008.
Then not a single NFL team showed any interest after being released a year later.

Not a matter of being an expert, he’s cooked. That’s all there is to it. He has experience, so does Lawrence Taylor, maybe we should bring him in.
Judon is not better than Swinson at this point, and definitely not Ponder.
In what world does it make sense to bring in a former malcontent who no longer can play?
We'll see what they think in the end: there's nothing out there. It couldn't hurt to add him to our rational guys: we have plenty of those.

Maybe Mike Vrabel can light that last fire under him. We only need him for a spell: nobody better is on someone's Taxi Squad at this time.

This is not 2021 Judon playing for Bill. This is 2025 Judon with maybe $70m in the bank. Even if he can physically do it, does he have it mentally? I agree with @TommyD4207, he looks washed. I agree with @maust as well. Miami is an undisciplined mess under McDaniel. I'm guessing he's worn down physically and mentally. Cut the guy with no desire, going thru the motions and send a message. If all these theories are true, I don't want that guy anywhere near this team.

Remember this is the guy who sat his ass on bags as the new coach tried to get control of the team. All set. I 100% question his desire at this point in his career.

Remember who that new Head Coach was: maybe Judon saw through the Idiocy before we all did.

You covet this guy all you want, your grace. I'm all set.

I think he did know what a mess it was under Mayo and shot himself out of town. Since then, he sucks. All. Set.

As the person clamoring for better DE play all year, I'd like to see if he has anything left.

DE has surplanted RT as a huge position of need on this team, never mind safety and linebacker.

If they were cutting him to "send a message" because he was going through the motions or whatever there and being a bad example, it doesn't really make sense that they waited until they were eliminated from playoff contention to do that. What message is there to send now?

The timing of his release actually points to the opposite, IMO. It seems to point to that even if he stinks now, he's been a good soldier and since he's inconsequential to their team at this point they'll do right by him and let him see if he can latch on with a contender that maybe rejuvenates his play some.

You're coming at it from a place the the organization knows what they are doing. They are just a tick better than Jete.

I know he represents a big cap hit but they need to look at bringing in another vet next year, or drafting a QB if they can. Judon is totally expendable at this point.

Looks like it was around 1.7 million, not significant in today's game.

I agree. What are the alternatives? Judon experience has to count for something
.
Experience didn’t help when Maye just flat out outran him to the corner. All his experience was left in the dust.

Experience doesn’t count if it can’t keep up.

He still has to go through waivers, I doubt he makes it to the Pats.
There is almost no chance that ANYONE claims him. He wouldn't want to be claimed anyway. If he even wants to play he would rather pick his team/coach/situation. More likely, he's done and knows it and every team knows it.

Experts running wild this Thread; like Judon couldn't be motivated on a Playoffs Team.

You understand that this is their business, right? Judon's business has been good. 77m in the bank. Not all the guys in the NFL are motivated to win. Some want the checks. Judon's checks are smaller than they've been, he's 34 and likely has other life interests. Football may not be his priority anymore.

It's possible.
