If you could bring back only ONE Patriot from the past, that has NEVER made the Pro Bowl in their career, to play on this team for rest of the year

Who would it be and why? (Edit: Whoops! Ok to make things more interesting let's leave out the most glaringly obvious choice of Julian Edelman )

List the year they were from also.

For example:

1974 Mini Mac Herron
2012 Brandon Spikes
1984 Stephen Starring
1995 Pat Harlow

I thought this would be a fun little thought experiment to kill time as we're going stir crazy during the bye.

This will sound insane but for THIS team I think I’d pick Trey Flowers. Dude was a darned good edge rusher for us and we could use it.

Second might be Dan Koppen…don’t think he ever made a pro bowl.

The candidates in order of value to this team:

1. Aaron Hernandez
2. James White
3. Matt Light
4. Kevin Faulk
5. Nate Solder
6. Shane Vereen
7. Deion Branch
8. Steven Neal
8.5. Roman Phifer
9. Rob Ninkovich
10. Don Blackmon
11. Sam Gash
12. Kenneth Sims
13. Ty Warren
14. Mosi Tatupu
15. Sebastian Vollmer

Will do three - defense, offense, special teams... got the first one need to think on the other two a bit...

Defense:
Vincent "The Undertaker" Brown, 1993

Great pics! I think Matt Light would be perfect but he's been to the Pro Bowl a few times and Sam Gash went to a couple.

Aaron Hernandez would be my ultimate choice (assuming he wasn’t a criminal). He immediately became one of my favorite players to watch when he was on the field in his first game his rookie year. Go watch him break Antonio Cromartie's ankles. I think it was the 2011 home game vs the Jets. The guy had insane change of direction for his size.

Deion Lewis was electric when he got the football in his hands.

James White would be a great mentor for Henderson.

Danny "Woodcock" was very solid as well.

Kevin Faulk was clutch after his really rough start from 1999-2000. I didn't think he'd stay with the team he was so bad.

Ted Johnson is my favorite Patriots LB since watching in the 90's. His name and having no neck alone should tell you how bad ass he is.

Brandon Spikes hit like a mack truck and was very disruptive blitzer. He played in an era surrounded by crap.

Roman Phifer not making at least a Pro Bowl prior to signing with NE was odd. However, that tells you how talented the NFL was back in the 90's. He was old when he came to NE, so I'd prefer a younger Phifer.

Sam Gash is my favorite FB of all time, but he made All Pro/Pro Bowl when he left the Pats in 1998.

Loved Deion Branch and Givens even though they weren't in the same universe as the top WR's in the game. They always appeared when Tom needed them to.

Sebastian Vollmer was extremely underrated and by far the most talented T in the BB era.

Joe Andruzzi was a solid G. I thought he was crap when he came over to NE in 2000 replacing Lane/Rucci, but he settled in.

Ty Warren was a very solid player.

Sweet Feet from the Dynasty era, imagine what a healthy White would do as an outlet guy and blocker for Maye.
Too many to count before that, the Pats got snubbed badly back in the day

Mosi would certainly help our anemic running game.

If it’s never made the Pro Bowl as a Patriot, give me Joe Thuney from 2019 (2nd-team All-Pro). If it’s never made the Pro Bowl period, and can’t pick Jules, then give me 2011 Aaron Hernandez (his best version as a player, and before his life took a turn for the worst). If I can add a defensive guy, Vincent Brown from 1991 (like Thuney, also a 2nd-team All-Pro).

Uhhh…he shot/killed people in college /Miami. FIFY…

He was same dude before and after 2011. No thanks.

Jonas Gray.

Just because it remains one of the craziest one-and-done performances I’ve ever seen and they still could use the RB depth.

Difficult to narrow it down to ten, never mind one

Clayton Weishuhn
Ted Johnson
Don Blackmon
Rob Ninkovich
Mike Wright
Vincent Brown

Joe Thuney
Stephen Neal
James White
Mack Herron
Julian Edelman

Do you have a link to support your claim? (He attended Florida up in Gainesville, not Miami, so I’ll assume you meant to say Florida). The only thing I’ve seen is he was suspected of being involved of the shooting of two men in Gainesville in 2007 (both of whom survived their gunshot wounds). Detectives opened up the investigation and determined Hernandez was not the triggerman. I’ll digress that he was trouble long before the 2012 murders, but I haven’t heard of him killing anyone prior to that. That said I won’t fault anyone for taking a pass on Hernandez knowing what we know today.

I love that Gash has been mentioned a few times... but he was a pro bowler. So in that vein, and no offense to Westover or Tonga, give me Develin.

There are "better" players, but he would be great on this team.

[thx for correct Miami/Gainesville. ]
Just count me as the bold part then. I dont feel like researching to prove an internet honor point.

I was pretty sure that after his death there was a cold-case drive by death that; while never 100% attributed /court case etc (because he was already dead at that point) that all the facts pointed to him being the triggerman. the other case you mention where no one died was STILL ANOTHER case.

all in all; the best thing about this team this year IS THAT THEY ARE A TEAM.
........ psycho homicidal maniacs need not apply.

If we saying “during NE career”, I’d definitely go Thuney (though he did make Pro Bowls while w the Chiefs).

If we’re saying “never ever pro bowler”, I’ll go Neal.

The OL, while fine, could use a LG. Especially depth.
