[From the "Other Games" thread] Imagine that 6 months ago, you received an e-mail from you today, pointing out two facts:

* With four weeks to go in the season, Drake Maye would be an MVP contender, and the Patriots would be tied for the best record in the league.
* That same weekend, Patrick Mahomes would lose a mid-off to CJ Stroud, sending the Chiefs to 6-7 and ending their streak of divisional titles.

Which one would you have found more unbelievable?

I'd be more surprised at the Patriots being the number 1 seed in the AFC than at the Chiefs not winning their division, but I'd be more surprised at the Chiefs not making the playoffs than at the Patriots making them. Of course, we're a few weeks from having that all settled.

Pats and Maye in the Super Bowl conversation.

The Refs are not saving the Chiefs bacon anymore. It's over.

I think injuries are the primary driver of KCs demise this season.

Teams that lose the Super Bowl often flail the next year. Pats winning vs LA after losing to Philly is last one who won the Super Bowl the next year. Kermit 1-5 in one score games this year... and Reid can't hold candle to BB in coaching....His in game decision are head scratching.

Didn't they have a remarkably good record in one score games last year?

Yeah looking it up looks like they were 11-0 in one score games last year.

If you are barely winning all your games its pretty easy for things to go south if you regress even slightly, or hit some bad luck.

KC also has 4 games this season with at least 10 penalties - Denver, Dallas, Jax and LAC.

All losses.

I am always wary of a team with a remarkable level of success in close, "coin flip" games, like the Chiefs had time after time last year. That tends to even out, so their return to average is not as surprising

We worry about the Chiefs too much. The Chiefs were a good dynasty and their first act is over. Will they have a second act like New England? Maybe maybe not but talking about them all the time is boring imo

Who cares about the Chiefs?
Apparently, a lot of Patriots fans. Tho, Chiefs fans seem to be or used to be obsessed with us too a few years ago. It’s always “Mahomes is better” or “Brady is better”. Yeah, I love Brady but I just don’t care who’s better lol

i expected 10-11 wins and the chiefs to take a step back.....but the rise and decline have both been accelerated

but.......white suit ray

I think this is the best way to frame it.

It's interesting that both Super Bowl teams from last are imploding. It wouldn't shock me if Dallas overtakes Philly for the East the way the Eagles are playing.
