I’m not convinced it matters. If Houston doesn’t get into FG range KC still needs to move the ball and those last two series they were as ineffective as Houston was being earlier.

You might be right, but the refs can get involved there.

They wouldn’t be totally out but they’d be damn near out. Losing this game puts them basically 3 games out because they’d be 2 games behind Houston, but the head to head loss makes it basically 3 games. And Houston would be the 7th seed. So essentially KC would need to win out the rest of the year against multiple other playoff level teams, and have other things go right too, just to get the 7th seed.

Chiefs had a good dynasty and there’s a chance they’ll be back eventually but there is no way in hell the Brady/Belichick dynasty is 6-7 during a regular season
