Alabama does not deserve a spot.

They're benefiting from their mid-season form. I don't know if there's a compelling argument to put Notre Dame in ahead of them. They should put in the top 11 teams with the addition of a power 5 playoff to find the 12th spot.

They also had wins against Georgia, Vandy, Missouri, Tennessee, LSU (eh!) They had 4 wins against ranked opponents. Notre Dame had 2. Both had two losses. ND beat up on teams like Stanford, Navy, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Boise State. Those four teams Alabama beat would have probably beaten every team ND beat.

The haters are trying to make this a bigger deal than it is. Right now, 7 teams - that's TEAMS not players - have opted out of the bowl season (which includes a 5-7 team who received an invite since they ran out of 6-6 teams).

Maybe Belichick will get a bowl invite after all....

********. Florida State beat Alabama, so don't tell us that all those SEC teams would automatically beat each and every one of those ACC teams. And both Tennessee and Missouri are out of the top-25 so Alabama only has 2 wins over top 25 teams. Neither Missouri nor Tennessee have a single win over a P4 team with a .500 record (or better). Regardless, you still earned the meme....

Bowl games are 100% meaningless. You lose a ton of players to the transfer portal and a large number of players these days opt out. Some teams have trouble even fielding a full team of starters and the appropriate number of reserves. If you take away the bowl games which are playoffs, most schools lose money when they go to bowl games.

NCAA bowl games are the equivalent of NFL games in August.
