Guess my previous thread on this with ChatGPT was wrong cause Scenario 1 with the whole AFC North losing sans Cincy happened and the Pats still can't clinch a playoff spot tonight yet per playoffstatus.com

I like the sound of 50% odds to get a bye.

Clinching scenarios.

Everyone here would have signed up for this thread last spring/summer. Nice to be back, regardless of the outcome.

For the record, multistep reasoning problems like this are among the things that make ChatGPT prone to "hallucinations".

If they only lose to the Bills & Ravens, they are guaranteed to win the division. The Bills lost to Miami. But that would definitely take them out of the one seed discussion imo.

I don't understand how Denver right now has the tiebreaker in common games over us. The only common game loss we have is the Raiders, but I thought divisional games weren't included in common games since they get to play the Raiders twice and we only get one. Even if they loss to LV they're 1-1, does that mean they still get the tiebreaker with a .500 record vs .000 for us? I don't get it

The common games between Denver & New England... they play the raiders twice, we play the jete twice... when everything is all totaled up, the tie breaker will be the win percentage...

Giants - Denver 1-0; New England 0-0
Raiders - Denver 1-0; New England 0-1
Bengals - Denver 1-0; New England 1-0
Titans - Denver 1-0; New England 1-0
Jets - Denver 1-0; New England 1-0

Right now denver is 5-0 (.1000), New England 3-1 (.750) vs common opponents... thats why they are the 1 seed... that early loss to las vegas was a dagger

Yeah it seems weird. Broncos are ahead by better win pct in common games. 5-0 in common games w/Pats- Ten, Cincy, NYJ, NYG, Raiders). Pats are 3-1 (hopefully 4-1 tonight)...

But the standings tiebreakers say the Broncos are 4-0 not 5-0 in common games.

edit: yeah, the source never updated it...

Yup also the Giants massive choke in their game with Denver...

As my kid is fond of saying... "Lot of football left, Dad". The calendar flips today and it's big boy football time. I don't think they'll stay at 2 losses, and I don't think Denver will either. Lot's to happen still.

Can't believe WAS lost on that crazy 2pt attempt in OT. That would have changed a lot.
Broncos have won their last 4 games by 3pts or less.
After the terrible Raiders, they have 4 tough games - Packers, Jags, Chiefs, Chargers
They could lose 2 of those to give us a shot at #1 Seed.

10 wins, is double what I expected...

playing with house money... be nice to see Drake clinch his first first round bye and three playoff victories in a row...

I am ok if we are #2 seed. I have a feeling Denver will get eliminated in divisional round . This will help us to retain HFA till Superbowl .

We should just win against giants and bills and use last 3 games as extended bye week . If we don't play starters in week 17 , that itself constitutes as a bye.

Use last 3 weeks to get healthy and test our depth . If we beat giants and bills I think we lock #2 seed and division

I don't know why but when I looked at the score and saw it was Den up by 7 in OT I just thought to myself... "The Commies are gonna score, go for 2 and miss it."

I wish I'd posted it here. lol

I guess I just don't get the whole divisional games counting with the 2 games vs 1 game dilemma but if it just comes down to overall win percentage it makes sense

Key is going to be not letting up for the division. Bills definitely could still go 12-5 with their remaining schedule.

If we don’t beat them in the rematch, it may be critical to win the divisional games to keep our tiebreaker.

Miami has f’ed us over last week of the regular season many times.

no one has ever said that everything the nfl does makes sense.
