I hope so.

I was rooting for the ‘64 Phillies. Don’t ever want to experience anything similar to that collapse.
I remember Mauch trotting out Bunning and Short I believe as all their other pitchers were injured. Richie Allen looked like he was winning Rookie of the year and Johnny Callison was going for MVP then the losing streak started. I remember it well my uncle took me to a lot of Phillies games in those days as I spent my summers in Chester, PA then. We also went to Wildwood a lot.

Where abouts were you?

So, far be it for me to defend any Bills member, but a lot of people in the Bills community are crapping on McDermidt for going for it on 4th and 1 down 7 with 10 minutes left in the 4th, and to be fair I thought it was dumb as well at first blush. I'm generally a take the points kind of guy, but the more I think about it the more sense it makes. Because of the missed PAT earlier in the game you're down 7, not 6. So you need to score a TD. (or 3 FG which doesn't seem likely)

I ran the numbers through the pro football reference win probability calculator and they back me up. (Assuming they make the FG and the Bills kick a touchback on the kickoff if they kick the FG)
Go for it, get it : 34.30%
Kick the FG : 13.9%
Go for it, don't get it : 6.6%

So if you get it you increase your chances of winning by 247% over kicking the FG. I'd say that's worth the risk, esp at that stage of the game.

And for fun I also checked to see what the %s would be if they were down by 6 instead of 7.
Go for it, get it : 41.4%
Kick the FG : 18.3%
Go for it, don't get it : 9.2%

Well, aren't we smug little assholes laughing at the Bills and Josh Allen. Christ, some of us sound like 8 year olds.

The Bills had to play the best overall D and the best DL in the league without their 2 starting OTs and their OL wasn't that good to begin with. Also playing on the road on Thursday Night might be the most unfair advantage a road team faces all year. Add the 3 turnovers and the missed extra point, and it was amazing that at the end of the game they are on the Texans 15 with a first and 10, down 4. Think about that for a sec.

Well, the division is ours to lose, but all that means really is we are probably going to get ONE home playoff game. That's nice, I guess, but we need to get that BYE. We need the Colts and Denver to lose and lose more than once. I still can't believe there were people who rooted for the Broncos last week. We need to get our priorities straight. We have a great opportunity here.

BTW- after watching this game, think about this. Come April, we are on the clock in the first and there is a very exciting WR and a very promising edge rusher available, who do you pick.

The answer is Edge of course. A great 4 man pass rush can render the best of QB's merely human. We saw it tonight and in the last superbowl. We lucked out on Maye and have a QB who can elevate a receiver corps. Our #1 priority should be to improve our pass rush so it becomes a top 5 group. It won't be easy, since what I'm saying isn't exactly a state secret. But the effort needs to be made.
Correction ken it's Mass-Holes.

Football is the most interesting and peculiar sport, Allen throws a picture perfect pass at the two yard-line with 35 seconds left, Cade Davis catches it, and instead of making sure he gets both feet down, he tries to score and doesn't keep his second foot inbounds. If he does it, the Bills get the win and Allen gets to be the hero. Instead, for our viewing pleasure, Allen throws a terrible interception to no one, and the Pats are inching closer to win the division.

The line between a hero and a scapegoat in this game is infinitesimally thin. Malcolm Butler plays an incredible defense on Kearse, breaks the pass, only for the ball to drop in Kearse's lap, and it seems that he will be on highlight reels forever as the Seahawks repeat. Two minutes later, he makes the greatest defensive play in SB history, he will live through that moment forever, and no one except Seahawks fans remember who Jermaine Kearse was.

Prior to the start of the season, all we wanted was an improvement by Maye and the team after the last two seasons, and here we are, needing three wins in the last six games to clinch the division, and that's if the Bills go 5-1 in that span. May this miraculous season continue like this until February.

In September, I think most people rated BUF, BAL & KC as the clear favs. With November nearing its end, only one of those has a winning record, and it’s a struggling Bills team.

What a swing.

And if you’d have said in August that the 3 teams that would be battling it out for the top seed in the AFC would be Indy, Denver and New England you’d have been laughed out of here!

Just goes to show, really.

It has been 1 crazy season.

The Texans defense would give the Patriots fits.

If they played today - the question, IMO, would be : do you trust Mills vs NE’s D more than Maye vs TEX’s ? I’d say ‘no’.

Does Mills get a shot as a starter somewhere next season? Does some team look at him as their new Darnold reclamation project?

Maye would struggle vs the Houston D. Mills would struggle vs the NE D.

Playing outdoors might give the Pats a slight bump.

Mills was always a project imo. Reports said Belichick wanted him in the draft as his new franchise QB instead of Mac Jones which either makes me seriously question Bill’s evaluation of QBs or that the reports were false and he didn’t actually want this guy to be his starter.

Will the Bills miss the playoffs entirely?
This game hurts the Bills a lot because it gives Houston the head-to-head tie-breaker. They also have it over the Ratbirds and Jags, which could come into play. They have some tough remaining games with two vs Indy and one at KC though.

Right. But he’s now been a starter and has won some games. Could the Vikes bring him in to challenge McCarthy?

I'm trying to run the numbers. Is there some weird universe were Allen, Jackson and Mahomes are all out?
That's a very real possibility since two of them are out right now and the other is on the edge.

The Bills post game radio broadcast last night was pure comedy gold. I fell asleep laughing. It was spectacular!
