Cooks cut. He does know the offense FWIW. Might be worth a flyer.

Wouldn't surprise me to see the Chiefs take a chance. I dunno. Seems like Saints fans say he has a hard time getting open now, but maybe that'd change with McDaniels, who can scheme K-Mart into opening back up if he tried.

When does Borges get replaced as our region's representative for HOF voting? Does he have to die or do they continue to let him be our vote even after that?

I know the CoV guys will be all over it, but...

Things are good, and they need youth.

@maust I used your new moniker, albeit the acronym.

I'm indifferent on Cooks. For most of the season, they've had all 6 WRs active on gameday. Chism hasn't looked very impressive as a returner though so I have to imagine someone else could do that. They could cut Chism and sign him to the practice squad (I doubt anyone claims him) and give Cooks that 53 man roster spot. He (Cooks) looks like a shell of his former self obviously, but he's playing in a bad team situation Williams has looked awful on a good team situation so far. I find it hard to argue that Cooks couldn't be an upgrade over Williams for the rest of this year, however marginal an upgrade that is. It'd be a one year deal so Williams can reset in year 2 - it's not a death sentence to his career here by any stretch.

HOWEVER, I do think we're talking pretty marginal improvement and maybe it does click for Williams over the next 7 games if you keep feeding him opportunities. His upside is higher. Hollins is playing like a pretty competent WR3 and Douglas is playing well enough to be a solid WR4 right now so we're talking about a clear WR5 type of role here. I don't think Cooks overtakes any of those guys, so maybe better to just stick with Williams getting scrap snaps in hopes of a breakout, however unlikely that looks for this year.

Something just isn’t right about Cooks.

The Saints drafted him and traded him to the Pats.

A year later the Pats traded him.

How many 1st round picks get traded twice before their first contract is complete, when they are not outright busts?

Meh, I don't think much of it when you really break it down.

It's not like he was traded for scraps. We gave up a first round pick for him. Saints had Michael Thomas come in as a rookie in 2016 as claim the WR1 role. So Cooks was WR2. Then in FA they went out and signed Ted Ginn who was coming off back to back good years with CAR (739 yards and 10 TDs in 2015, 750 yards and 4 TDs in 2016). The Brees/Payton teams also RARELY ever struggled to manufacture offense. I think they just viewed it as better resource allocation to sacrifice at WR2 for a first rounder. It's not like they gave him away.

Then when we traded him away, we ALSO got a 1st rounder back for him on his fairly pricey 5th year option. Again, just good roster management there because we were a team with enough good players on the team where you can't keep everyone.

Even when Rams later traded him to the Texans, I believe they got a 2nd. So again, good value.

I agree it's odd that he's been moved so much, but it's been for strong value each time. I feel like he's just been in that area where he's been good enough that teams want him for a high price, but not so good that teams wouldn't move him for a great return. Just a perfect storm from what I see.

There's gotta be something off the field. Dude is good enough, but to your point, yes, something isn't right.

Some internet site (forgot which) says two Patriot receivers are finalists for Hall of Fame. Stanley Morgan and Henry Ellard.
Ellard played 10 years with the Rams and 4 with Washington.
His Patriot stat line. 2 games, no starts, 5 receptions and 86 total yards. Please stop.

No, he don't block and when hit, he goes down like a palm tree in a Florida hurricane: quick and soft.

Talks of Wright at the deadline and a potential off season target.
Staying in Cleveland

A reminder that the owners are billionaires, and own ANOTHER professional sports franchise - and they're funding their stadium through PSLs and tax money.
