a quick look at 2026 FA

On top of Chaisson and Tonga, I'd add Hawkins, Gibbins and even Pettus if they come cheap enough. I like most of the depth on the roster. That doesn't mean I wouldn't draft a safety or a linebacker but with the window we're in, I like the continuity bringing guys back add and means we don't have to risk starting later round rookies from day one.

OLand pass rush are the priority whether through the draft or FA. My concern with Chaisson is simply that he becomes too expensive if he puts up the 10+ sack year he's on target for.
Pettus is an UDFA already under contract for next year, and Gibbens is an RFA. Hawkins is a true free agent, though.

There's a reason the Ravens let him go, it's not like they have a ton of corner help.

I think he's cooked. Reminds me of when everyone wanted to trade for Jalen Ramsey a couple years ago.

Carlton Davis is waaaay better at CB2 than many, many other options out there.
As a depth rotation option he's worth it. Low risk high reward..

C. Davis is a very good CB2…top 5ish. He’s an average CB1…probably top 15-20.

We’re not playing more man because we don’t have a top coverage LB and / or S. A better CB2 really doesn’t do much unless he can play LB.
He wouldn't be CB2.. he'd be a depth CB.. far above woods and Automatic 1st down Austin.. maybe/maybe not JA is done.. but still just 28.. he'd be worth a shot at depth CB.. just a thought that's all..

Go look around the league. Name me 5 better CB2s.

Alexander is washed and now has personal issues ('stepped away from football' recently). Trust me, if the could play, the Ravens wouldn't have traded him for a bag of footballs. And the Packers couldn't get rid of him fast enough, originally. The Packers. These aren't teams that have super-deep cornerback rooms.

If I remember right, you were on the Jalen Ramsey train too. That guy's making 25 mil a year to play rotational deep safety now.

They'll draft/bring in another young guy next year to compete for Davis' spot. This team really doesn't need reclamation projects. Like J'aire Alexander. Like Kyle Pitts. We're not the team that has to take shots on draft busts anymore.

First things first. The OL needs to be addressed. Jared Wilson is a massive weak link. They need an upgrade at C. Owenu will be cut. They are stuck with Moses for one more season.

They could be stuck with Stevenson for one more year, but they may take the slight hit if another RB they like is available.

Carlton David has been okay, but his contract is mind boggling. He should’ve been on a prove deal given his injury history and been passed around by two other teams. They are stuck with him for at least one more season.

Tavai is finally let go.

Tonga get re-signed.

Now for the surprises:

I think Stefon Diggs is cut after the season and the Pats target another WR. His cap is $26.5M. They also save $20.8M towards the cap to a $5M dead cap. He reminds me of 2014 Revis where you can see they’ve clearly lost a step and were one year rentals. Even with his big game against the Bills, it looks like struggles for every catch. He can’t play the outside anymore.

I think Chiasson walks like Mark Anderson after 2011.
Do you still feel the same way about Stefan?

I think if Kyle Pitts signed here I'd imagine your tune would change. Until then ever poster absolutely has a right to thier own opinion.

Let me know when you see C. Davis name pop up here.. @Pape was the first to call out C.davis. coming off back to back 4 wins seasons it's obvious we would have to overpay someone and C Davis was that person. No harm, no foul he got his bag and good for him. Get it while you can!

We can do better at CB2 next season IMO

He's a CB1 on more than half the league.
Not on this team..

I trust this personnel department to find the under the radar free agents that will continue to build our depth.
Mike also fans have to retrain thier thinking also. This is the Mike vrabel patriots.. guys will want to be here.. be part of what they are doing.. and play with Drake.. I just don't see Vrabel telling guys.. look we love ya, we want ya.. but i just can't pay ya 10 a year.. it's more of this is what we are doing here and we want you to be part of it.. that's the sales pitch. The onus is on the player not the team.

I feel Isaiah likely is a better bet than pitts and also more budget friendly .
Pitts has so much more untapped talent and potential than any FA TE to be in 2026. Hands down. Pitts and Josh with Drake.. yeah sign me up. Likely is good but not the raw athlete and wr skills that Pitts possess.
