[NEM APPROVED THREAD] Is Josh McDaniels the GOCOAT?

Not open for further replies.
Yeah, was pretty damn happy to get him back. I’m thinking/hoping that two really bad head coaching experiences has made him realize that not everyone needs to keep going for that job.

Cannot properly convey how angry I am at people spelling it "Weiss".

McDaniels has another opportunity to rehab his image after what transpired in LV. If it weren't for Vrabel, he'd still be out of the league.

Just realized @fnordcircle is channelling the spirit of the deceased again. Last time he did that he kicked off the second dynasty. I wonder what he sacrificed this time.

* High levels of success in multiple tenures as OC.
* OC during a 16-0 season with the team setting unbelievable offensive records.
* Coached multiple QBs to high levels of success. Obviously Brady but now Maye and let's not forget guys like Cassel.
* Coordinator Success now spanning close to 20 years in a league that is very different from where it was when he first started as an OC.
You talking about the woke stuff?

Yup, Ian banned him to death. The moral of the story is don't eff with Ian.
If I recall correctly, didn't he not just ban him - but also eviscerated any and all evidence of NEM, by disappearing every single one of his posts, and replies to his posts?

Yeah, don't eff with Ian.

NEM approved.

On a serious note, though, I still think McDaniels' greatest achievement was turning Matt Cassel, possibly the greenest QB in NFL history, into a guy who was playing like a top-5 QB at the end of the season.
Good take - along with some PTSD (Patsfans Traumatic Stress Disorder?) with the mention of NEM!

Someone should do a poll and see how many of us know the reference!

I'll say this about the guy - he certainly was a passionate fan and never wavered on whatever his take of the day might have been!

By passionate, you mean mentally ill.

What did he do to get banned, anyways? (And, yes, you can't even search for his old posts.)

GoCoat took me longer than it should have.

History is going to look very kindly on Josh McDaniels, OC. The question I have is how does he stack up vs other great offensive minds? Without looking at stats, I’d say pretty flippin’ good.

At the time I was spending far more time on The Sporting News forums, and before that the original Boston.com Pats forum than here at PatsFans, so other oldtimers can better answere that question. Ring6 was a moderator here then, he could answer that question better than I.

But as I recall, NEM had an obsessive hatred of Josh McDaniels (as well as Charlie Weis). Not just obsessive, but bordering on delusional and paranoid. He derailed many threads into profanity-laced tirades filled with personal attacks. While he added perspective about his love for quick slants and in cuts, he also flooded the board with threads and posts, because he was consumed with setting forum records for the highest post count, and becoming PatsFans forum member of the year. The only person he hated more than McDaniels and Weis was president Bush, so he was interjecting a lot of political talk into football threads as well.

Again, it's been a while, but I believe he was banned from the main forum, but given a chance for a reprieve by still being able to post on other forums. Then he couldn't restrain himself, kept registering under new names (like NEMisis, or something like that), using the same identical writing style and topics to make it obvious who he was.

A very passionate Pats fan, he had an official Patriots fan club in Arizona, but also seemed to have his demons. FreeTedWilliams can tell you more about 'New England Mike' than I can; I'm going off a hazy memory.

Appreciate the rundown. It was before my time, so this helps to understand a bit.

I guess I'll have to resurrect the Pats fan club in Arizona. There will be blackjack, hookers, and the Pats...

On second thought, scratch the blackjack.

You talking about the woke stuff?

Scientists have proven it's very distracting to coordinate an offense when there's a trans cheerleader's cantaloupe sized bulge bouncing hypnotically right next to your face.

I can personally confirm.

RIP NEM, you would have loved the rumors about Josh becoming a ****old in Denver.
You didn't hear it from me and not trying to placate any deceased former members of this site but I heard from the Shell Gas Station cashier's brother's son-in-law that she's messing around with Johnny Foxboro.

All I'll say is Brady won a grand total of 0 Super Bowls here without Josh.

Every Batman needs a Commissioner Gordon.
