The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

What genius to project the desire to be HC of NYG at the same time his UNC program is floundering.

Apparently the merry band of grifters are eyeballing a new mark.

IIRC, all they have to do is come up with $1M and Bill can buy his way out of UNC.

Let's see if John Mara is as catastrophically stupid as many Giants fans suggest he is.

Translation, Wake Forest about to put a whooping on that ass.

UNC is showing some progress. He took on a program with MUCHOS PROBLEMAS.
It's somewhat unfair to crap on him for UNC being mediocre, of all things.
Why? The roster was fully his and his buddy 3 Rings Lombardi's responsibility. They did a massive roster overhaul and brought in 70 new players with 41 transfers... that's all on them.

UNC was a bowl team last season. They haven't qualified for one yet this year so if they don't that's a regression not progress.

Well, precisely for the reasons you state. He inherited a team with very few decent players, a non-winning culture, had to build from ground up in a transfer system that did not necessarily entice the best talent to go to UNC (of all places), and an entirely different environment (college vs. NFL). They were 6-7 last year. He's not going to greatly exceed that (if at all).

But I don't get if they perform kinda like they did last year in Year 1, how that makes him a terrible coach (or how Year 1 in a new program defines you).
It'd be like making coaching determinations from his Year 1 for the Patriots.

Now, if he ****s the bed Year 2 or just holds serve, it may be a different conversation.

It's much tougher to do a blow-it-up-and-rebuild in college successfully vs the pros. The better recruits or transfers want to show off their talents for the NFL right away not wait for the rebuild to produce fruit.
