We aren't losing until next preseason.

I said it.

They are losing, period. This is a young team and they will have a brainfart and lose a game and it will be one of these games all of us expected them to win.

This wasn't a clean game. Far from it. There were plenty of mistakes made and plays left on the field. They just had enough talent to overcome it on top of Vrabel coaching circles around Bowles.

Hey @Ian - I've noticed all video links defaulting to this error code now: "Error 153"

I know this happens with specific trademarked channels, however this error is popping up for everything it seems. In the former, it'd explicitly state something like "You must view this on the official NFL YouTube Channel." Is this just a me issue or is something on the fritz?

People need to chill on the MVP for Maye. He's doing well (mostly in context of being a 2nd year QB). It's great, but...

Stafford is probably going to win it (with Taylor the non-QB who should win it).
Stafford is playing incredibly well, and his stats and wins support a MVP-worthy season.
Also - I think Rams are a very complete team, and are my current pick to be in the NFCCG - with the Lions.
If you had a top 5 MVP list at the moment who is on it?

They’re blocking embedding, that’s usually why that’s happening.

I may not know intricate football knowledge, but I did say a few times this preseason: the magic number is 23. If the offense can score 23 or more, the Patriots could a lot of their games. It just took me awhile to believe they'd clear that hump, but they have been stellar at it.

This was the most annoying thing about recent years. We could barely score 14. And victory was merely 10 points away.

I've got Maye third behind Stafford and J.Taylor
Sam Darnold says hello.

LET ME BE A DELUSIONAL HOMER IN PEACE!

It's been depressing around these parts for half a decade.

Enjoying my weekly dose of Patriots delusion. Side effects include Hope.

No not right now , I just felt next year we might need to do. Can't roll with too many vets or over 30 folks. Diggs, hollins already will be there next year too. So cade otton could be a like to like replacement unless they feel they can spend 5 -7 million more for Henry for next year which seems plausible as a safety valve. Probably hooper is gone and cade otton comes here . Again if none are available we stick on with the existing pair and draft their replacement .

I don't want them signing a free agent TE, you can easily get a good one on Day 2 of the draft, and have them on a rookie deal for 4 years.

Oddly enough, the Jets seem to always give the Pats some trouble recently. Ideally, I’d love to see the Pats play a full 60 minutes and crush the Jets. But something tells me it might be a fight.

I don't think the Patriots can look past anyone, but if the Patriots come ready to play it's really hard to see the Jets beating them. The Oatriots will shut down their run game and force Justin Fields to try and beat them, and Justin Fields sucks.

You can easily get a good TE on day 3?
Pass catching TE?
You most certainly cannot get one easily if we're talking pass catching.
Have their been good pass catching TEs rd 4 and later, sure. But look at all TEs taken in rds 4-7 and tell me the hit rate on a good pass catching TE. It's not easy to get a good one I can tell u that.

I big fingered that. I thought I had written Day 2 when I posted it. And I do believe you can get a good TE on Day 2.

To who?

And don't give me the ******** 'somebody' answer. They just beat the best team on their schedule on the road. They beat the 2nd best team on their schedule on the road a few weeks ago.

Where's the loss?

"Hurr durr young team brainfart" isn't an answer. They've shown since the Pittsburgh game, they're not that team. All the 'trap games' they were expected to lose, they won. Buffalo? Win. 3 road games in a row? No problem. Tampa on the road? Win, maybe their best win of the year.

So seriously, what's the loss?

Yeah, it wasn't a clean game. They haven't played a single clean game. They win anyway.

More in depth thoughts.

#1 I am happy to see back to back weeks of under 50 penalty yards. This game has a big PI against us, but that aside it was small stuff mostly. Ideally you want none or less... but i consider under 50 and under 6 overall a pretty good mark. As long as you stay under that you aren't hurting yourself too much. So this an important improvement this team has made.

#2 I am happy with the progress of Drake Maye when it comes to fixing things. Yes, they will need to be readdressed at some point, like they do for most young players, but typically he is quick to correct them. Taking Big hits on runs? He takes less now. Throwing lots of bad balls and putting the ball in harms way? He does that less now. Taking too many sacks? He only had 1 this game and it was a nothing burger. I imagine the Sacks were a big point of emphasis this week. He addresses them quickly until they become more or less habit, but like all young players you need to re-address things a few times too. Now with the Sacks to the forefront of his mind, I suspect they will go back to working on ball security again. 3 straight games with an int? That is going to get hammered into his head in this short week. And I imagine he will handle that constructive criticism like he has all his career, he will turn the page and adjust quickly.

#3 The big rookie stories this week were Williams and Henderson, but how about Ponder with his first sack huh? He also had 14 snaps this game, which i will not look up to compare, but i think it is likely his career high or close to. They badly need someone to step up in the back up DE role. I hope this is a sign of things to come from the young player.

#4 While obviously you want Barmore in there, it speaks to the depth of the DT spot that when he was out you didn't miss a beat. Durden, Tonga and Farmer have all been very reliable.

#5 I made a point of Elliss stepping up before his injury as well as the rest of the group. But i think Gibbens has earned a special shout out too. This was his best game this year IMO and he has been solid recently. He is subtly becomes one of those guys you want to resign to the back of your roster.

#6 Let's get it out of way. Super encouraging stuff from rookies Williams and Henderson. Has been hit on to death, but there you go.

#7 I love Marcus Jones. But my gosh. He seems to find himself put on bad mismatches often. This is something that somehow some way needs to be addressed. I know it is hard when you are in zone... but some kind of adjustment has to be made here.

#8 I know this is a longer term issue, but the Pats need to find a way to keep a big body WR on the roster for Drake Maye. He works well with this type of player and exploiting that size. But yeah, but of this is also good play from Hollins.

#9 Campbell with a nice 'bounce back' game. Though he wasn't exactly bad last week considering all factors. But it was a good one i think. Moses as well. Their OTs have done well to stop the bleeding on what has been at times for various reasons an underwhelming interior. But for all the problems they have in run blocking, it is fair to say they didn't let Vea take over the game from a pass rushing perspective. They didn't do amazing, but they kept it an annoyance and not a disaster.

You just can't help yourself. You've been the conductor on the Marcus Jones Libel Train since he was drafted.
