NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION 2025 Week 10 TNF: Raiders at Broncos

Well i don't count guys before the super bowl era as the tape of them isn't good and the game was very different back then.

How i do my top 10 is i ask this question. Who is the most likely to win me a super bowl? That means who will get me to the playoffs, play well there and be clutch in big moments. Of course stats, wins, rings, and certain X factors are part of all of this.. but they are all used in the service of trying to answer this question. Now you don't need to win automatically to be ranked, but proof of concept (multiple times even) can be a huge plus. But I don't just count rings either.

#1 Brady
#2 Montana
#3 Mahomes
#4 Staubach
#5 Elway
#6 Unitas
#7 Manning
#8 Starr
#9 Brees - Realistically Rodgers should be over Brees but he is just so bad in the locker room, and Brees tends to be more clutch.
#10 Rodgers
HM - Starr, Young

Those are the 12 I think really stand above the rest.

I know some people will freak about about putting Mahomes that high already. But is sample size or more or less as big as Staubach, Starr and Young who people put up on all time list. And he has done more than all of them.
Harrumph!! Otto Graham...just sayin'...

I went to a broncos board to see if they were as low on nix as i am. Turns out they may be lower lol Sucks cuz if you look at their defense, ol and wr’s they would probably take that division over kc with a good qb

Pats may well be starting at 1pm with the knowledge they need to win just to keep pace with Denver and Indy against a much tough opponent. Not fun.

Denver still have KC Twice - the Pack and - Chargers to play all Teams need to win. They still have tougher road than us: glad they're keeping the pressure on KC to win.

It is funny Broncos fans online prior to last night were constantly complaining that Jayden Daniels got all the pub last year and Bo Nix didn't (that was kinda BS because the media was gushing over Nix at the end of last year) and Drake Maye and not Bo Nix this year. But Daniels had the best rookie year for a QB ever and Maye is doing things that few QBs in league history has done including guys like Peyton Manning and Josh Allen.

Meanwhile Bo Nix is wildly inconsistent. He is awful for the first three quarters of games and then plays incredible for one a lot of the times. He deserves praise, but he isn't in the same class as Daniels last year or Maye this year. Still wonder if he would be compared to Caleb, Penix, and McCarthy more than Daniels or Maye if he didn't have Payton and Kelly putting him in great positions to succeed.

You people will believe soon enough when Bo Nix Sean Peyton beats the Chiefs in 2 weeks.
Pats never beat up Geno like the Broncos did last night. Even thoseel BB defenses folded like a cheap tent...

I watched the "Drake Maye MVP" video highlight just before the All-22 of Bo Nix. The thing stood out about Maye is many of the throws in that video are throws only Maye a a VERY short # of other QB's make, or so it seems.

Bo Nix
I think I'm very good at not having bias. I had him as not an NFL starting QB out of college and still do. However, I take each game tape and watch it like he's any other QB.
He's had a game here and there where he's played well. His level of difficulty, even in the good games, has never been high but some games work like that for any QB and you still have to make the throw.

The tape from last night was embarrassing for Nix. He had open guys on many plays, didn't see them or was afraid to throw it or panicked in the pocket too quickly. Some terrible accuracy. If you can get pressure on Nix it's over. When he throws with anticipation, he's always a bit late and the accuracy is off. There's a reason he only completes 40% of passes over 10 yards, lacks zip, always late.

I went back and watched last years TB/Denver game where Denver Defense dominated but was the 1 game I could find in 2 years Nix beat a winning team. Tape wasn't great than either. For a raw rookie you could live with the game and hope for improvement. Same issues showed up there that are now worse as teams are now playing to the fact he caves under pressure and can't throw past 5 yards accurately or on time.

The defense is the only thing from me picking them to lose every game here on out. I can't see more than 3 more wins max with Nix as the starter.

I was hoping LV found a way to win that game. The good news is that Denver still has KC twice and LA once more. They will beat each other up.

Too early for them to be thinking of scoreboard-watching. They should have much more important matters on their minds that they can control...

One thing about that: the NFL in 2025 is woefully unbalanced rules-wise/enforcement-wise in favor of offense. I find a good old-fashioned defensive struggle refreshing. When you have quarterbacks league wide with completion rates approaching 70 percent, things are seriously out of whack. Basketball in cleats a la last Sunday's 47-42 Bears-Bengals fiasco doesn't interest me.

The NFL is also a woefully lower quality product than years ago.
7 teams are at 2 wins or less. Another 7 are only at 3 wins (essentially half the league at 0.333 or less).

Meanwhile at the top end, not a single undefeated team.
But, this is not parity ….rather incredibly horrible chaotic performances & levels of injuries taking out top teams.

To me this all comes back to long-term greed and mis-management by Gotohell.
— He implemented 17 games & Thursday night football to go for the $s. The NFLPA, if they truly stood for players and not greed themselves should have denied both. The increased injuries to key players (not necessarily ‚stars’ -qbs get some +protection) is result.
— He constantly changed the rules to appease for ex: the Dolts & Queefs; & then started ‚Points of Emphasis‘ to the refs in specific games and weeks when things (damn patriots not losing) didn’t go how he wanted so that his chosen media-darlings could show up on highlight reels and attract the Swiftys & ‚chicks dig the longball crowd‘ to the viewing audience.

Maybe I too am just a grumpy old man & don’t get modern game, but if you think so….

GET THE HELL OFF MY LAWN!

You're not a grumpy old man, you are observing an inherently team-oriented game being messed with in the name of greed.

The overemphasis on scoring overemphasizes quarterback play. When a QB gets hurt or sucks, the team can't score and fans lose interest. A couple decades ago you could still win the Super Bowl with a mediocre quarterback a la Trent Dilfer and great defense. These days it's all about offense.
