Even with Bucs missing their offensive stars, it's going to be a tight one. Just because they are an experienced team and have been in a lot of close games and are used to coming from behind.
Agree.

I've watched a few Tampa games this year, and Mayfield has done a very good job of spreading the ball around while Evans has been out. Opposing defenses have wisely been keying on Egbuka the last couple of games, which has slowed the Bucs offense down; Patriots should do the same.

The Bucs defense has been helping out a lot too, with ten takeaways in their last four games.

The Pats have 3 distinct negatives they have to deal with in this game that have nothing to do with personnel. First is the heat, and second the fact the Bucs have had TWO weeks to prepare for them. And the third is it's an away game, and that is always a disadvantage as we all know.

Even those who are predicting a Patriots loss, and most do; this is likely going to be a one score game well into the 4th quarter. TO's will figure heavily into the eventual outcome (as always).

Finally, if the Pats lose a close game, don't be surprised to see the national mediate to race to jump off that Pats bandwagon, just as they have on the Colts this week. Recency bias is HUGE among the sports media and a secondary definition for the term "Frontrunner" is sports media "experts". So, if we DO end up winning this game, the hype will be HUGE.

Pats have held Robinson, Achane and other dangerous backs and deep running games in check all year. The Bucs haven't really had much success running the ball all year and none of their backs are dangerous. Nor is their offensive line particularly good at run blocking. We have every reason to suspect the Pats will shut down this run game. The Pats will make their offense one dimensional. And like every time they have managed to do that, they will hold this offense (which isn't star studded right now) in check.

If the Bucs don't get big time turnovers they shouldn't touch 24 points vs our flawed but overall good D even with Mayfield playing well.

So, if the Pats play fairly clean and get 24 points they win. Will they if Boutte doesn't play? IDK. The Bucs D isn't bad either, and the Pats while they have gotten right a little still aren't setting the world on fire there, so we can't expect much. The offense needs to prove they can move consistency without Boutte.

It isn't so much that Boutte is this amazing talent in himself. But he is talent. He puts them over a certain threshold and does things other guys don't do well. If Boutte doesn't play, they are going to get some big time production somewhere else that isn't the usual suspects.

They need a rookie to step up. Williams or Henderson needs to hit a big play. They really depend on those explosive plays as they aren't super consistent down to down all the time. So Henderson needs to break a big run or make a big catch or Williams and Maye need to connect if they are going to win IMO.

TH DNP
Boutte
Stevenson
Elliss
==========
Gonzalez is off the injury kist.
=================
Those who don't participate at all on WED and TH are rarely active for the game, except perhaps for an emergency play of two.
=======
Bradbury, Farmer and Mapu were limited, which could mean something, or not.
=======
It is times like this that we appreciate having Tavai on the team, able to backup at ILB or OLB.

Rham is our Best Blocker from the RB position: have you seen Onwenu and Wilson's abysmal Blocking lately?? Yeah we need all the help they can get.
How is Jennings’ blocking?

Okay, so this is weird. The Pats are going to wear blue on blue Sunday in the Tampa heat.

So, you believe that Jennings is a top player at picking up the blitz and as a receiver?
I thought he looked good catching the ball on his one target last week.

I have no opinion on his blocking. That’s why I asked. Didn’t expect to get jumped on just for asking about it.
BTW, you do realize that if Rham is active, Jennings would also be active.?
Yes.

You do realize that if Rham is inactive someone has to take his snaps right?

Who do you think, is Jennings or Henderson the better choice for blitz pickup?

Where is the NFL gameday thread? The Raiders with Bowers are a different offense. Giving Broncos fits.

I think it’s waiting for you to start it.

Raiders D is confounding the wild horses.

Why is this weird?
TB has their choice at home.
I assume they are wearing white and sticking us with dark on purpose.
Couldn’t we wear red not blue? Which absorbs heat more?

Actually one of the more porous defenses we've faced in the last few weeks. Expecting Maye to have a pretty good game, maybe even crack 300 yards finally.
Much depends on Williams who will have lots of reps.

Much depends on Williams who will have lots of reps.

Quite possibly. I kinda wonder if this isn't more of a TE and RB receiving kind of day, with some bigger plays outside the numbers when Tampa's defense adjusts.

Williams will get lots of reps. Last week, he was in on 46% of the plays on Offense. This should go way up if Boutte is out.
AGAINST ATLANTA
63% Hollins
60% Diggs
46% Williams
56% for the rest: Boutte-26%, Douglas-24%, Chism-6%

Obviously, Boutte would normally get many more reps when healthy.

Why wouldn’t they wear road whites? Is that not an option?
Home team gets choice of uniform so if the Bucs took white already you can't have both teams in the same color. Dolphins do this all the time in the early parts of the season. Makes the heat/humidity even worse for the visiting team.

I just looked; the expected high is 81. So not quite long underwear weather but not heatstroke territory.

To answer a previous question, the Navy would absorb more heat than the red the Pats use. The closer you are to black the more energy is absorbed rather than reflected.

I hate when people say a game feels like a playoff game. With a playoff game, it's lose and go home. But it feels big-game-y even if only 1/17 of the season rides on it.

Now Buffalo might be one that'll feel like a playoff game. But again, not really.
