*Does nothing*
Wow did you see him do absolutely nothing? That was a masterstroke! Let me glaze just how well he did that nothing!
This is how the post comes off. It's silly.
The real reason the Patriots did nothing is they either couldn't make a deal or they felt the asking prices were too high on the players they wanted. That's the bottom line.
A lot of the potential upgrades available played for the Titans, Jets, and Dolphins. For some reason the Titans don't want to trade with Vrabel and the Jets and Dolphins as division rivals made trading harder.
I still would have liked them to cast their net wider in their search for upgrades because this is a golden chance for the Patriots to improve. This feels like 2001, the AFC is wide open, we might even have a chance at the #1 seed and the Bye and we didn't improve the roster.
Don't get me wrong, we're still in a good position because we have one of the weakest schedules in the NFL. I still feel like we're a playoff lock at this point and will contend against the top teams. But having some extra help at safety, edge, or WR wouldn't have hurt going into the back nine of the season.
