Gilmore rarely had INT's. Did that make him not good?
Who said anything remotely close about gonzo being good.. Stevie Wonder can see that. Of course he's good! The comments were based of coverage and scheme.. the obvious reason kurh is calling so much zone is due to the safety play. However zone coverages causes for the CBs to play off coverage wich in turn allows for qbs to make easy completions. That then gives the QB an advantage to see the field better.

Zone coverage is effective if you're getting to the QB rushing 4.. gonzo and Davis excel in man coverage..

I think like most on here we'd like to see more man then zone but for now I think we need to lean on the results and accept that this is our D and not try to change it because it's working great.

I also especially wonder how much the zones are probably helping our rush D too.

It's effective because we typically hold teams in the red zone and stop the run.. we have a dam good defense by all means.. most I'd imagine would like to see ( I'm nit picking here) some more man coverage to challenge teams WRs on the outside. The zone coverages seem to have to do more with the secondary than guys up front.. as we run a one gap system. We just have one of the best D lines in the league... Barmore, milt and Tonga that stop the run game. Add in farmer as well.

Is Godwin expected back this week, has their LT been playing?

So did I; but it appears we'll just have to learn to live with an Error Repeater at QB.

Get used to it, it's part of the package. Not a Chinese menu where you can pick and choose.

Along with Maye's arm, legs, touch, deep ball and other attributes comes some extra aggressiveness at times. He will hold the ball too long, force the ball at times, try to do too much. Some of it will get coached out and get will mature, but some is just part and parcel that comes with the package.

I can live with an occasional "Error Repeater" for a down performance that still results in 65% completions, 2 TDs, a 102 passer rating against the past pass defenand most of all a W.

I'm going to say the bills get us the second game.. I had us splitting with them anyway..
Buffalo showed in that SNF game they don't match up well with the Pats like they briefly did since 2020. Bills offense is predicated on running the football where the Pats defense has stifled every running game this season so far. In fact, we are 9 games in and no RB has even crossed the 50 yard mark on the Pats run defense. The Bills beat KC because Cook had a good game. Now people are running back to get back on Buffalo's bandwagon because they beat the Chiefs who are a shell of themselves.

So if they can't run with Cook, how are they going to throw? Pats can also match up with teams especially if they have a pedestrian passing attack.

Bills defense played better than they really are and I expect NE's offense to play better this time around. It's going to be loud when they come to NE as I'm sure this game will determine the division winner. I would be shocked if NE loses the game.

Technically neither Maye or Henry are in the wrong here. Maye is thinking to split the seam on the cover 2 zone, and Henry is seeing a single high safety come over and continues his dig across which is also correct. This is just one of those things that both will make a note of, and chose what they will prioritize next time it happens.
If Henry goes up to try and catch it then he is getting lit up. Terrible decision into triple coverage, Maye has the ability to make those throws but was still a questionable throw.

I would hope for a win against Buff in game 2, but it’s far from a certainty.

Yes Cook only had 49 yds, but they rushed for 118 against us as, 43 yds above our average given up per game. I don’t care if 53 were by Allen, those yards still count. And Maye made some miraculous plays to seal the win.

If I was picking today, I would certainly pick the Pats, but again it’s definitely far from a certainty.

Your correct Marcus definitely is our 2nd best CB.
As long as he’s not covering Drake London.

Actually Davis might be ours 2nd best CB

Chism is REALLY GOOD in preseason games against guys who don't make the 53.
AND very vanilla offense and defenses. That doesn't mean he can't produce but to anyone saying he did this in the preseason so he can do it now is flawed thinking.

Even 1 or 2 weeks ago Steve Burton on the CBS Boston post game show said he was really excited for Chism to start playing. It is not only PatsFans posters that get (over) excited about preseason.

Yea I'll admit, I got fooled.

He looks slowAF and not very dynamic out there.. hopefully he can figure out another gear
He needs time to develop, just like Jules, Wes or Danny. Chances are he isn’t going to be as good as those guys, but he could still have a good career.

I really don't understand your post. Morris literally praised the Patriots for it in the article calling it great situational football and a great job by us.

Florio's the only one going "well technically that's supposed to be a penalty". The Falcons aren't crying about it.
Hawkins was clapping before the play but it was trying to get the attention of a fellow defender. he was clapping fast and not like Penix had been clapping. I have seen this occur several times where a defender is clapping to get the attention of someone.

The Center made up **** to try and cover his **** up

You are dead on and then fans grab onto when a media member says the same thing they think to justify their lunatic ramblings.

I went into this game thinking that Morris was a promising young HC, but after this complete bs about clapping, and listening closely to the way phrases things, he reminds me of Jerrod Mayo. Very imprecise with his articulation on everything, and creates more questions & confusion about a topic than there was before he opened his mouth - all the way from using the wrong prepositions to not realizing he was accusing the opponent of cheating.

You make a compelling case here Rain... the only reason I say spilt.. is because going into the season I was optimistic we could challenge Buffalo. This teams done far more than challenge the division leader and 2nd seed in the AFC is just remarkable from where this team was. A season ago.

The defensive line is the strength of tje our Defense as you perfectly mentioned they stifle teams running games. The equalizer here is Josh Allen and those Tight ends... I expect he and his TEs to feast on our LBs like every other team does.

But as you mentioned the offense for the Patriots is much better than when we saw Buffalo in Buffalo.

That's why snorts, grunts, and stonewalling is a tried a true method for dealing with the media. FEA.
