The fact is, if this was another team with this schedule we might be using the words 'frauds' or 'pretender' to describe them. Or at least the conversation of if they were a fraud would be on the table. But this fan base like any other wants to believe the best of their team, and the worst of others. It is a very human thing.

Now I personally would not describe them as a fraud or pretender this year myself. I don't think those labels are fair considering the state of the NFL right now. It kind of feels like a league full of frauds and pretenders now. Do you really believe in Denver or the Indy? I don't. I bet other Pats fans don't consider them great teams. KC and the Bills have been super inconsistent. The Ravens are way out of it and would need an amazing run to make the playoffs. If the Pats are pretenders who are the contenders in the AFC? So i don't feel that label is fair.

That all being said... the talent and depth on the Pats compared to other teams in the AFC is lacking a bit... Maye before today was playing at an insanely high level. He has a few stumbles today and they are neck and neck with Atlanta. A lot of the Patriots power in the power rankings really depends on if Maye gives an MVP like performance. IF he does and everyone else is healthy they are with the the of the pack. IF he only plays well, their flaws are much more obvious

Where is our James Cook or Jonathan Taylor or McCaffrey to carry the load if our QB has a hiccup? We don't have one. Where is our Super Star WR to make something out of nothing or get open enough so Maye doesn't need to drop it in a bucket? We don't have one. Where is that defensive game wrecker? We don't have one. We have nothing to really fall back on if Maye stumbles.... Maye Stumbled today in the 2nd half and late in the 2nd qt without Boutte... and all the team could do was hold on for dear life with the help of a missed XP.

That isn't ideal.
Correct. Maye has strapped this team to his back and led them to 7-2 with his excellent play.

Losing Boutte is a big blow. We need to replace him on the trade market. Maye needs weapons.

We saw how impactful the WR position is the way London almost stole that game single handedly.

If he has to jump to catch the ball he sometimes comes down off balance, he starts running while trying to regain his balance.
Good point. Maye is often wild high, and Pop is a Smurf.

Douglas doesn't have the catch radius to make up for errant passes or to go up and win a contested jump ball.

That's one of his significant weaknesses.

But that's why he was available so late in the draft.

You just now that McDaniels will scheme up a goal line catch for Tonga in the playoffs.
Or hand the ball as the centerpiece in New England’s version of the tush push? And maybe put Barmore and Uncle Milty in to push?

Onwenu has been so frustrating this year. If im NE soon as it makes sense to get out of his contract im cutting him. Not worth his contract.

I feel like a RG will be drafted in the top 3 rounds, but after watching London today I think in the 1st we should try and get Carnell Tate or in the 2nd Chris Brazzell

In 2 years from now Diggs probably won't be here.
Moses won't be here.
Hollins won't be here
Owenu won't be here
Bradbury won't be here
Chaison might not be here
Henry might not be here
Hooper won't be here
Pop might not be here
....etc
So we need to replace all those guys and more in FA and through the draft.
With our schedule, this might be our best chance in the next few seasons.
I'm not suggesting we sell our souls down at the crossroads, but I don't think we should be wasting this opportunity.
The way some folks on this board want to run a bunch of those players out of town it shouldn’t be hard to replace them.

Good news on Gonzo. How about Boutte?
During the game they said hammy. So I figure we won’t see him again before the Buffalo game. Hopefully we’ll see him then.

Because it’s a historically eash schedule and it isn’t rally about punting on this year, but more “don’t weaken yourself In future years to go all in on a year where the team looks better than it is”.

I doubt anyone honestly thinks this is a SB contender. You don’t give away premium picks in a rebuild.

Seems people are thinking this is a Waddle for a 4th kind of situation, but the reality is more like a Mo Sanu for a 2nd situation.

Trade deadline is a seller's market, not a buyer's market.

Drake London is an amazing Receiver.

You make great points. Unfortunately this board is full of people unable to reason. It's a double edge sword though: if you think we should make a big trade at the deadline that is going to require resources that will definitely ensure that this year is a one-and-done.

I'm willing to bet at least half those players will be here.

Waddle is way better than Sanu. It's not even close. Also Sanu was damaged goods. I have no idea how he got a pass through the medical team inspection.

I'm with Phil Perry, go get Rashid Shaheed. He has speed, good deep ball guy.... and he's on my fantasy team.
