Miles Garrett is a legit possibility

Could happen.

Browns are perennially horrible for a reason. They are adept at making horrible decisions.

It would take Garrett becoming completely fed up with his situation THIS WEEK, wanting a trade and throwing rocks (or helmets) inside their glass house.

If Vrabel, Kraft, and Wolf are confident that our first rd picks will be late, giving up 2 of them is reasonable.

There's 30 other teams... even if all of the above happens. So, it's very improbable, but possible.

It's unfair to say it "didn't produce any Lombardi's" when Moss was 30 when they acquired him and only played with Tom for 2 full years and 4 games in 2010. Not to mention, Brady was coming off an ACL tear in 2009. That's not much time.
Yes. But folks on here keep posting like all we need to do is sign a cheat code player and we’re assured of multiple Lombardis. I’m just pointing out that’s not true. And 30 is a common age for the players under discussion. Myles Garrett will be thirty before this season ends, for example.

I'm not sure how legit a possibility is actually is, other than people throwing names at the wall to see what sticks.

But the idea of Garrett/Barmore/Williams/Chiasson closing out games in the 4th quarter did make it move a little bit.
If Garrett was 25 absolutely you do it. As great as he is he is pushing 30.... have to take this into account.

Denver absorbed a huge hit from Wilson.. so as it's been proven over and over again if two teams legitimately want to make a deal they will figure it out. We as fans worry more about cap space then NFL teams do.

Definitely agree with that.

But the expense is hard for me to swallow.

Here’s the thing: everybody wants a cheat code player.

We got a cheat code player when we acquired Moss. But that cheat code player cost a fourth, not multiple firsts. And having a cheat code WR coupled with a cheat code QB in the GOAT TB12 did not produce any Lombardis.

It’s a great fantasy but I’m convinced that like other wet dreams it’ll never become real.
when you are talking about Moss, context matters... Moss & the Raiders was a toxic combination, and the relationship between the team and player was, to put it generously, rocky... there was talk about his work ethic, rumblings about his commitment to the game/team, his declining production - his numbers were cut almost in half from year 1 to year 2 in Oakland... and Moss was agitating to gtfo of the bay area...

The circumstances surrounding Garrett are different... he's sitting on a fat contract and is seemingly content to be living in the city that is home to the Factory of Sadness with said contract...

I agree with your final statement - I would love to get him, but now its pretty clear the browns are not going to move him.

It's a pipe dream that could turn into a nightmare.

Contract isn't as problematic IMO it's the age. Broncos ate Wilson's salary and they are just fine... Garrett is phenomenal but would we want to take a player at 29? If he's 25 or 26 wouldn't bat an eye.

I will continue to say this the salary cap is something created by the owners. It can be modified, manipulated in many fashionable ways should 2 teams truly want to make a deal.. of course teams want to always make best use of it and it's a real thing but it's not the end all be all. Good players cost $$$ that's the reality of the NFL. This is just my opinion.

Very true. The realistic option is probably chubb from Miami or Phillips. Garrett a phenomenal player and person off the field... if he was 25 it would be more appealing. We have a great defensive line.. Just need some more edge pressure..

He's a professional. I know we fans don't like hearing this, but yeah.... an awful lot of professionals care far more about making money than about competing for championships.

That's not even criticism... I'd probably do the same thing.
The general life span of an NFL player is just over 3 years. With injury or your replacement possibly around the corner I totally agree that for some they want to maximize their earning potential because a lot of these guys dont have much to fall back on. Not everyone can get a gig talking about football once the playing days are over.

While I'd love to have MG, I wouldn't want to trade the farm for him. Our DLine is one of our strengths. We need to address our weaknesses. The draft capital it would take to land MG would set up back in the long term. This is a front office that doesn't do too well drafting outside of the first round.
Agree with everything you said except the last sentence. I think the new front office did really well this year outside the first.

It's a pipe dream that could turn into a nightmare.
Garrett turns 30 this season and next season will be his 10th.

Either Cleveland will eat a lot of his contract, but want high compensation in terms of draft picks or NE will be saddled with Garrets contract to give the Browns cap relief, but the Pats can buy in at a lower price.

Pick your poison.

This GM already signed Deshaun Watson to an untradeable contract after knowing he had dozens of creepy sex pest cases against him.
More reason to send him to the NFC.

Your assuming the Browns even know what a fool looks like.
Garrett is the highest paid player on the Browns roster.

That's why they have 1 win.

I thought their QB is the highest paid player on the team...you know the guy that hasn't played a NFL game in over a year.

let’s not go overboard here. If he had better aim he could’ve killed a guy.
