According to Overthecap its Garrett.I thought their QB is the highest paid player on the team...you know the guy that hasn't played a NFL game in over a year.

the actual money players are paid is irrelevant. the pockets for owners are extremely deep.Garrett is the highest paid player on the Browns roster.
That's why they have 1 win.
The Pats need to draft a pass rusher and have him on a rookie deal for 4 years.I thought their QB is the highest paid player on the team...you know the guy that hasn't played a NFL game in over a year.
Very true. The realistic option is probably chubb from Miami or Phillips. Garrett a phenomenal player and person off the field... if he was 25 it would be more appealing. We have a great defensive line.. Just need some more edge pressure..Yes. But folks on here keep posting like all we need to do is sign a cheat code player and we’re assured of multiple Lombardis. I’m just pointing out that’s not true. And 30 is a common age for the players under discussion. Myles Garrett will be thirty before this season ends, for example.
Oops... forgot about that...let’s not go overboard here. If he had better aim he could’ve killed a guy.
Preach on... post more please!!! So refreshing to read this take!!!the actual money players are paid is irrelevant. the pockets for owners are extremely deep.
it's all how they account for the money (salary cap)
Garrett's cap hit is $21m this year. it's $23m next year. it's $27m the year after.
his contract becomes onerous in 2029
they can cut him in 2028 for minimal dead money if they wish, but he will be 33 years old, and I would assume still effective
I agree. We have too many spot to fill to focus on one player that's not a QB. If we were a team that was stout across the board and that one guy could take you over the top then sure. But thats not where the Pats are today. The Pats need to draft a pass rusher and have him on a rookie deal for 4 years.
The Bungles just paid Hendrickson a fortune when they really need OL to protect Burrow.
Garret hits them for 21.9m and Watson hits them for 35m. Thats from Overthecap, I think you dont see Watson because he is currently not on the active roster? I searched by the player and not the team.According to Overthecap its Garrett.
Once caveat here is whenever a QB consistently took less for the greater good of the overall team is makes management of cap so much easier for an organization. One take I get from the cap discussion is that we don't ever have to worry about somebody duplicating that 20 year run of excellence. Looking at that Lions list of resigning's makes me believe that teams' superbowl window's are going to be shorter going forward with this salary explosion of the last few years.
I know KC is in the midst of a long run now, but it started back before salaries boomed. Remember back in 2019 premium QB salaries were about $25MM in just 6 years, they have more than doubled and now premium Edge rushers are getting over $40MM. Hard to compete through a long season when your cap is so top heavy. The secret to our long-term success was the existence of a strong middle class and the depth to survive the inevitable injuries that pop up. The failures of those talented Pats teams of the late 90's stemmed from the fact they couldn't survive the injuries that occurred.
Most don't do it. Maybe some after they have amassed a fortune, but again, most chase the bag.Once caveat here is whenever a QB consistently took less for the greater good of the overall team is makes management of cap so much easier for an organization.
Mahomes is a recent case. He restructured i think last season? So KC could do some things... but your right. Guys today are taught coming out of school from NIL and from thier agent's that the NFL is a business. Brady is a unicorn in that regard. I'm with you on drake.. I believe he's such a humble guy and he's established himself here.. that while I don't believe for a second that Vrabel's gonna play hardball with drake.. I believe drake's never gonna hit the open market.. he's gonna be locked up beforehand. Most don't do it. Maybe some after they have amassed a fortune, but again, most chase the bag.
The said, Maye seems to be the type of dude that may take a small discount. Could be wrong, but he seems to be cut from a bit of a different, more humble cloth. Put it this way, when Caleb's contract comes up and let's assume he's earned a big payday, you think he takes a discount? I would say chances are zero, where with Maye I would put the chances higher.
Assuming Drake continues to grow into what we all think he will, he should never be allowed to hit FA and leave NE. Vrabs is a smart dude, he knows what he has.Mahomes is a recent case. Agreed. Just like Gonzo, he knows who his top guys are... I also see a scenario where Gonzo gets extended before hitting FA..Assuming Drake continues to grow into what we all think he will, he should never be allowed to hit FA and leave NE. Vrabs is a smart dude, he knows what he has.
I don't know all the contract details, but Drake has 3 more years (with his option) on the rookie deal. Now I'm sure he will be extended before that comes to pass, but how hard is it to get out of Myles contract after the 27 season?I may be wrong here (I know, there's a first time for everything ) but from what I understand not only would trading him completely cripple Cleveland for the next few years but the cap hit for us would really limit our flexibility as we continue this rebuild. So as much as I'd like to have a beast like Garrett unless there's something I'm unaware of I'd pass.
It’s amazing how many in the media completely forgot about that. Every time I see or hear Garrett, I think of that. Had Myles hit Rudolph with that crown of the helmet, it would’ve cracked his skull open. I’m surprised Garrett was even allowed back in the league.let’s not go overboard here. If he had better aim he could’ve killed a guy.

KC's 2 SB losses are proof to that.Bottom line, you can't really compete for superbowls UNLESS you have a good defense, just ask the Bengals and the Bills. People think KC is all about Mahomes and their receivers, but the REAL engine that is making their run possible is their top 5 defense.
Milton Williams is due $21 million guaranteed next year. Milton Williams Contract Details, Salary Cap Charges, Bonus Money, and Contract History | Over The Capthe actual money players are paid is irrelevant. the pockets for owners are extremely deep.

yeah, there’s no way Garrett is tradedThe $$ issue isn’t on the Pats’ side. Take a look at the dead cap Cleveland would be saddled with.
