Call crazy I actually liked the Nance/Sims commentator team. Romo can get a bit tiresome.. Charles Davis is good. Actually do like Jason's commentary as well. The McCourty twins are excellent in media.
Romo's glazing of the Cowboys this past weekend ('The Cowboys are still in it' down 20, etc), was absolutely embarrassing on a National broadcast. So was Nantz ripping on the Titans defense after a 20-second gamebreak update, because he's still pissed the Oilers moved.

Simms was fine as a color guy (I liked him way better in the studio), he just really relied on his stock phrases 'He's big, he's strong, he's fast, he's athletic"

Yes spot on!! You're analyzing of them is on point... I'll never get the fixation over the cowboys.. Haven't done **** since the 90 really.. Romo can get a bit obnoxious to me.. I actually don't mind Ian eagle either. You have to bring some character and personality to the game for the watchers. I expect us as we go along here to start having games flexed out especially down the stretch.. 1pm games and 4pm games I'm all for.. those Sunday night games.. I'm nodding off ny halftime..

Here's the rest of the flex-able schedule (per Reiss, they just announced Tampa is staying at 1 PM):

Thu November 13 8:15 p.m. JEST
Sun November 23 1:00 p.m. at Cincinnati Bengals
Mon December 1 8:15 p.m. New York Giants
Sun December 14 1:00 p.m. Buffalo Bills (almost 0% chance of prime time, but could be moved to 4 PM)
Sun December 21 1:00 p.m. at Baltimore Ravens (maybe, if they improve)
Sun December 28 1:00 p.m. at JEST
Sun(?) January 3/4 TBD Miami Dolphins (only if there's something on the line for NE)

I just think its incredible to witness a competent coach on the sideline. Josh and Drake knew that Boutte had the TD just by the way 37 backed off. Boutte was not open when the throw started. It was all scheme and trusting Josh's design. Drake trusted Boutte to go get it and everything was textbook. Matty P, AVP, and Mayo could never dream of such things.

McD also complimented Boutte for not showing that route until he knew he could capitalize on the opportunity. He said Boutte shows great patience. It wasn't until the mid to late 3rd qtr that Boutte pulled that off, and so he was waiting for the tell.

The Jets game is Thursday night so likely stays, the giants game may be flexed to 1pm if they continue to lose. The bills game could be flexed to 4:15?

Don't worry about losing Josh any time soon. Worry about losing Todd Downing who is quietly becoming very important to that WR room and doing a great job.

One of the more interesting takeaways I got from that clip was Josh's interactions with Vrabel. It is clear he is in total control of the offense. There isn't a single time where they get together to discuss anything even after TD's. I also noticed that any contact they DID have was more polite than cordial. Basically, a high or low five in passing. He had more intimate interaction with Boutte, Diggs and Spillane than he had with Mike. Granted it's a very small sample, and clearly they are working well together, but I just thought it was interesting to note.

The other thing I thought was worth noting was just how detailed good route running actually is. We saw it in one of QB breakdowns of Boutte's TD and see it again when Josh is will the Cleveland CB to "back off". And it was awesome to hear Boutte's interactions with Josh. Big difference between the 20 year old Boutte and the 23 year old one. Josh has a big fan in Boutte.
I hate to say this and it has been a big pet peeve of mine last few yrs but one of the biggest addition by subtraction on the staff was moving on from Troy Brown as the WR coach. We saw no real growth under him .

These would be awful jobs to walk into imo. I don't see a bright future for any of those organizations. All have terrible ownership, culture, and a history of losing.

The Bengals would be a great job if the owner sold the team.
Fixed that for you. Mike Brown is a big part of the problem.

A HC is responsible for all aspects of the team. ST, Offense, defense, 4th down decisions, direction to kick, OT decisions, who to bench, media, cuts. If HC (Vrabel) is defensive minded, he still needs to know offensive plays. When to tell the OC to run or pass late in the game. HC's work through 5 am sometimes. It's the toughest job in pro sports.

Longstory short, McDaniels isn’t fit for the role. Especially with NFL personalities etc. He is a great OC and helped Brady a lot (despite some other fans suggesting Brady could win with any random OC). His biggest responsibility now is to help Maye become a top tier QB. I don't think he wants to leave and have Maye deal with another OC. The offense would be screwed.
I really doubt he wants to deal with all those unrewarding HC tasks vs managing an offense that has Drake Maye. And the circumstances here are ideal - it's where he lives, Pats are on the rebound, has a very good HC & owner to work for, etc.

Also he's earning $10m for this year and 2 more years, on top of the past 3 years (6 yr/$60m deal with LV). That's about as much as he'd earn if he took a HC job. So he has no incentive to go anywhere for 2 more seasons after this one, it's off the table. The same types of opportunities will be there in 3 years if he wants them. He's only 49.

In 3 years when the LV payments end, his net worth should be around $50m. His lifetime coaching earnings at that point would be around $85m, less taxes = $50m. His living expenses and investment income over the past 20 years probably offset. So his decision in 3 years would be:
a) stay here, earn around $4m a year plus what he makes on his $50m, and compete for Super Bowls, or...
b) take a $12m/yr HC job with a train wreck like the Titans or Jets, uprooting his family for the 3rd time, when he doesn't need the money at all.

One thing that caught my attention is that he showcases constant respect for Vrabel on the sideline. Always refers to him as SIR. The players are surely taking note. This is not a team with multiple coaching personalities competing for attention. Despite the fact that there are multiple ex-HCs on the staff, they've let it be known that Vrabel is the authority deserving of supreme respect from not only players, but coaches as well.

It's not always like that.

Anyone who knows coaching -- any sport, any level -- will confirm that the No. 1 duty of any assistant is loyalty to the head man. Mayo failed badly in that respect, as elsewhere.

All very logical and likely how things could play out over the next few years.

Really the main thing I can think of that could alter this would just be the fact that if he ever gets offered a 3rd chance it's probably entirely tied to Maye's success and possibly even needs to win a SB again. So it's not entirely up to him and he may need to strike whenever an offer is made, he probably can't afford to turn down another Indy.

He seems pretty content right now so this is all obviously hypothetical. From the outside I feel he's here for at least another year and hopefully forever.

Thx Josh for fixing Drake! His minor issues are going away, footwork, pocket presence and calming him down.

I'm glad he's grown up from this

Thought he'd tear off his hoodie Hulk Hogan style...

I’m telling you if the Giants or Bengals job opens up he is gone.

Bengals ownership is horrible... mara is an odd duck.. Burrow will be hurt each season.. the QB in NYG ain't Drake or anything close...

There's also this:

What's with the hand over the face after Boutte's TD catch? I must've missed the meaning of this new celebration.

I believe Diggs started it. At least started it here I don't know if it came from somewhere else first.

From what I've heard they are covering their nose then waving away the stink.

personally, I like the 1pm starts. I don't have to wait long for the game to start and it's over (and with a win) I have all afternoon and evening to savor it... and write a post.
