Interesting attitude of our players that mirrors BB

I think it's just what well coached, good football teams do. They realize they aren't playing at a peak level yet. I don't think it's because of BB or leftover from some long gone value system, nor is it regional. Just trying to get better, and recognizing there's plays to be made still and improvement needed. Williams has been on teams that have played at the highest level possible. He knows what's needed.

Good stuff though.
BB would agree with this.

Long gone value system? You have expunged all that you were taught as you make decisions going forward?

Vrabel's success as a player was when he played for Bill. Josh's only coaching success is when he worked for Bill. Bill is in their blood. It is not long gone. As long as the Pats are coached by guys that learned under Bill, there will be an ingrained influence. If you want Bill's influence "long gone", hire guys that didn't play or work under him.

Let me clarify. Cheezus.

The post I responded to referred to it as a New England thing. It's not an old New Englander value system, old yankee ingenuity or left over from something Dante Scarnecchia picked up from Chuck Fairbanks or whoever 150 years ago. It's what professional football teams have engrained into them as part of a winning culture. They, specifically Williams in this instance, know they aren't there yet. Williams didn't play for Bill, yet he's the one who says it. Playing at a championship level requires playing at a certain level, whether that's Pop Warner, HS, D3 college, major FBS football or the NFL, and Williams recognizes this.

Do I think that Bill's influence in some way affects Vrabel and JMcD? You betchya. Does Bill's coaching and teaching pump thru Williams veins? Nope, but he knows what it takes to play at the highest level, and that's part of the reason he was brought here. Now everyone can be rowing the boat in the same direction with one common goal.

Never said I wanted Bill's influence gone. Let's pump the brakes on that.

OK. Sorry for the confusion. So much denial these days of obvious sh!t I get confused.

Odd take away considering no one, let alone @Steve102 in the post you quoted, has said they want Bill's influence long gone.
Not for nothing, the concept of realistic self assessment and evaluation is as old as sports

Williams might be the defensive guy i get a jersey of. Gotta give it a little more time to see how he is as a person (thank the gods I never bought a herndez jersey) but the dude seems like a great signing

For ****z & giggles, let's credit Williams with 100% responsibility for defense improvement/decline

Eagles D is giving up 5.3 points more/game than last season.
Patriots D is giving up 6.2 points less/game than last season

Elite value in terms of Money Ball analytics

Eagles might have one of the most difficult schedules thus far, might be important to factor in haha.

Not that it takes away from the Patriots accomplishment, though.

I like how someone on this board can basically say, "Isn't it great that we're doing things kind of like we used to," and it turns into an argument.

OFC you do, you well known **** stirrer you.
Me: Trying to be the voice of reason.

I like to think New England sports and "well coached, good teams" are synonymous

Well.. Except last year haha.

KW have a unique skillset he needs to start showing it. He's playing with a Great QB no excuses.
perhaps it is not KW but Maye??
perhaps Maye has to get comfortable throwing to KW? KW has been open the few times I watched him. He and Maye are not yet on the same page.
Offensive snap counts Sunday

I think Williams would have had to grunt, snort, and then take off on a plane to Nantucket to mirror BB.

Basically, we learn from our past experiences. Or we should.

I worked with a former NFL player and I used to pick his brain about how the locker room operates. It's an extremely tight group that works together, even though there are players who want each other's jobs. I didn't always experience that in my 40+ years of work.

Listen: last Draft it came down to Jaylin Noel and Kyle Williams for me. It was very close between the two and somehow I preferred KW. Now he better start showing why I liked him over Noel who has come on.

IF Maye is making Barefoot Mack Hollins into a player: he can do the same for KW. We are onto the Second Half Kyle Williams I can't stomach getting nothing from another Patriots Rookie WR. Their contemporaries around the league are doing quite well.

If that were true then Bill's coaching tree wouldn't look like this...
