I don’t think so. They are average at best. Don’t want to compare them, but Marino made the magic markers (Duper & Clayton) into household names. Not to say the 2 Marks were devoid of talent, but Marino certainly elevated them. Maye is doing that with his receivers & tight ends.

Add in his line isn’t exactly giving him the most time, and that’s what makes his performance mind boggling. Average weapons and so-so line play, and he produces every game. You see him running for his life on so many pass plays, and he either steps up in the pocket, or rolls out, or runs.

I mentioned in the postgame thread, heard a stat, Daniel Jones has been sacked 7 times, ALL YEAR. Maye was sacked 6 times, TODAY. Could you imagine how much more damage Maye would do, even if the Pats cut the sacks in half, forget just 7 sacks. What he did vs that Cleveland defense, even after getting sacked on 25% of his drop backs, incredible. I have no more words for how good he is.

For the record, none of Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Matt Stafford, Jordan Love, Dak Prescott or Daniel Jones has had a single game with over a 135 rating (Allen and Mahomes got overs 130 once each).

Trevor Lawrence hasn't had a game with a rating over 100. In 5 years, he's never had a game with a rating of 135. But as recently as a week ago a mediocre was writing that Drake Maye's ceiling is Trevor Lawrence.

Sam Darnold, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and Jared Goff have each had 2, Baker Mayfield and Aaron Rodgers 1.

So to summarize:

- Drake Maye: 5 games out of 8 with rating > 135

Other QB's have stud Receivers/TE's, and RB's at their disposal. The front office needs to find these types of guys for Maye.

This is assuming Maye will be a top 10 QB or so moving forward.
