JETS SUCK 2025 EDITION (OFFICIAL): DIVINE INTERVENTION DENIED

Question for y'all: Do you think they should fire Glenn? I'm talking from a standpoint of if you actually cared for the JEST and wanted them to do well. (Horrifying thought, I know.)

The way I look at it is at some point you have to do something to stop the chaos and let players have some stability. So if I were Woody Johnson and I really thought Glenn was the guy and the players are still buying in I'd give him a public vote of confidence, telling the media that under no circumstances (save something crazy like Glenn gets caught molesting the cheerleaders or something) will I fire him for the next couple of years.

Also they don't have a QB so I don't know why anyone expects them to do anything. They got the Bears' sloppy thirds. Not even seconds.
It really depends on if he actually is showing anything as a head coach. I thought Bowles and Saleh at least showed something and should have stuck around for longer if Woody knew what he was doing. Bowles may not be Belichick in his prime, but he’s kept Tampa running after Brady left which is something Belichick not-in-his-prime couldn’t do here. All gas no brakes Saleh got his players to buy in, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he does better in his 2nd stint too, if he gets one.

Glenn? Everything I’ve seen so far out of him suggests to me that he’s in over his head like Adam Gase was. But I’ll admit I haven’t been following them particularly closely yet, so I could be mistaken and it’s possible Glenn might be building something behind the scenes.

This is disturbing. The feds should get involved as this kind of commingling leads to child indoctrination/emotional and mental abuse. It's a genuine public health threat.

LOL, the Jet fan meet and greets are more like the sports fan version of a dating event for herpes sufferers. They are probably otherwise decent people cursed with a life long affliction.

The NFL agreed to play those games when they had loaded Packer teams and took the first two. But then the AFL teams won the next two and took the wind out of the blowhards in the NFL who looked down their noses at the AFL, like you're doing now.

Your own words were the "original" AFL teams and there were 8 of those for quite a few years, until Houston came in the late 60's and Cincy a year later. That's why I used 8 but we can go with 10. Below are the records for 7 of the 10 original teams and other than NJ, Hou and the Chargers they've all kicked NFC ass.

You also mentioned how much stronger the NFL has been and how things evened out once they started drafting together. That's also way off the mark.

Since 1970, when both leagues started to play each other head to head, there have been 55 seasons. The AFC has won the head-to-head matchups for 32 of those seasons, including 9 straight years starting in 1972 and 11 straight starting in 1996. The AFC's overall record in that time is 1606-1521, though this year it looks like the NFC will make up some ground.

The only place the NFC has an edge is in the SB and that edge is razor thin and wouldn't even exist if Brady stayed in the AFC or Bill didn't bench Butler.

We'll have to agree to disagree here. I feel my point was made and don't want to steer this thread any further OT. One last note, though: as a supposed AFL buff, you should've known that Miami and Cincy were the league's last two entries -- franchises nine and 10.

This guy needs to be locked up, so no one listens to him:
I'm not sure about that. Fixing your team and then looking for a QB is a great way to get stuck on the mediocrity treadmill. [Remember, the Vikings were effectively asking the Patriots to take their place on the treadmill so they could get off of it by drafting Maye.]

Agree, and will also reiterate that da Jete just don't do patient team building. They're always about the next shiny new thing at QB but not about putting enough quality pieces around that QB for him to succeed. It seems the current idea of drafting OL is a step in the right direction but it looks like AVT is an injury prone bust, just like Messy Bacon was before him. The last two coaches they hired, Saleh and Glenn, are defense guys and their drafts have skewed that way. They just can't seem to find a guy who has both leadership skills and a vision for the team to follow. They always seem to be letting the GM pick the coach, and not letting the coach bring in a GM that can build the team his way.

I think we're giving more reasons for the Jete fans in our lives to hate us, and I'm fine with that. We had a sucky two seasons that through a set of unlikely events led us to getting Drake Maye. Thankfully our front office had the sense to not trade down when they had him in their sights. Then we give that QB the right OC, a guy the NYJ would never hire, and the draft delivers us a stud at LT that we again keep instead of trading down. All of a sudden our offense turns around. On top if it all we have a HC that has so much confidence and leadership skills. To single out one aspect of head coaching skill, compare and contrast Vrabel's clock management to Glenn's and it's no contest at all.

I'd like to say da Jete are stuck on the mediocrity treadmill but that's too much praise for them. Clearly da Jete are stuck on the suckage treadmill. They thoroughly suck, year after year after year.

What I give them credit for there is actually taking Campbell at OT instead of drafting at some other position. AFAIK there were no trades to be had at that point.

Googling confirms you are right. Despite some mocks suggesting a few teams wanted #4, Vrabel says the team got no phone calls at all on that pick. Yet now we can speculate that some teams might regret not making the call...

When I picture a Jets fan, I always picture Joey Buttafuoco in a mullet. It's not widely known, but "Buttafuoco" is actually Italian for "butt fumble."

Thats a pretty kind way to mis-translate "fuoco"

Presumably Joey was popular in prison...

(FWIW, Google says fuoco translates as "fire" which gives us "butt fire" as his last name, and now we all know...)

Here's Drew Barrymore, desperately trying to act, but frozen solid for some reason, in the Worst Film of All Time, "The Amy Fisher Story" (1993).

I’m also going to disagree with Tune. I think this season proves the power of interventional prayer.

Coach Glenn “Oh Lord, make us a great football team. Like the Pats of ‘07”

The Supreme Being, who is multitasking and has more important things to be listening to than anyone associated with the Jete “Huh, you want to be 0 and 7? No problem.”
