So if he's gonna be a problem for the run defense that hasn't allowed a 50 yard rusher then couldn't the same thing be said about Maye being a problem for that defense?
Yes

Although I didn't that needed to be said

In watching the Seattle game last night, one of the commentators mentioned that one of the things that has made the Seattle D so fearsome was that the often switch between man and zone coverages and are very good at disguising those looks.

We are supposed to have a premier shutdown CB and a solid #2 and an excellent nickel guy, and yet we have rarely played any true man coverages this year. I've been waiting all year to see some man coverages. Maybe they are waiting to save it for some more threatening offenses that what Cleveland has, but I'd like to trot it out this week. Choke this little puppy in his crib, and make the league have to prepare for this evolution in the Pats D

Seems like a good time for the team to stop sucking at home.

Gabriel is a game manager type QB but he does have a top weapon Jeudy. Let's see if the Pats can force him into mistakes. Also seems like a good time for the defense to start better than they did on Sunday.

Their defense is no joke. Obliterated the Dolphins. Hopefully Maye can keep up his streak of clean games himself.

Browns are 21st in scoring defense we are 7th.. essentially they are what we were the past few seasons.. my question is? Will gonzo and Davis be more impactful? It's been a bit underwhelming to say the least..

What I never liked about zone coverage it allows for a mediocre QB to get confidence and rhythm. We have two great outside man coverage CBs.. why are we playing zone.. we aren't playing Josh Allen every week. This needs to change this game.

The Pats started slow against the Titans and then got on track. The Patriot are an improvimg team but they aren't good enough to beat teams like the Titans and the Browns by play 75% . They have to be 100% on their game.

True. We are still an evolving team. We started slow against the saints to defensively.. I'm just not a fan of zone defense when you have the man coverage CBs.

Do you want Christian Elliss or Jelani Tavai in man coverage against *anyone*?

Or Dugger for that matter?

They've played a little bit, but it's tough when you're personnel limited.

You have man coverage CBs, and No Coverage linebackers. Therein lies the problem.
LB is part of the problem.. however you have a 20m CB and an all pro who wants to get paid.. we aren't playing the bills each week. Man up and challenge WRs.. gonzo didn't become an all pro playing zone..

They are bad in coverage.. but Tommy honestly you can say that about any LB in the league.. Fred Warner isn't covering Gibbs out the backfield, or Brock Bowers.. it's just not happening.. we need upgrades for sure..

Keep Garrett at bay, they'll be okay. Jeudy is a perennial underachiever relative to his budding hype before his rookie season. He only has 220~ yds on the entire season and no TD's.

It would be a bad look if we lost, imo.

I'd take Fred Warner, currently, on crutches, against Christian Elliss.

Or Hawkins for that matter?

Tavai has to be on a run specialist (like Jennings) and rotate out for passing downs, with Mapu who can cover somewhat.

For 2026 hopefully we have a full time FS who can cover WRs, if necessary,, next to Woodson, and a 3 down LB next to Spillane.

Too much talk on here about we are due to lay a stinker or Maye is going to come back down from the clouds. Sack up and get on the pain train. These guys are starting to believe in themselves and they have a coach that is turning the screws just right to get them jacked up. They are going to come out Sunday looking to do some serious damage out of the gate. Playing at home, winning record leading the AFC east they are going to be wide open. Its going to be like watching LOD come into the ring and wreak havoc!

Did we talk about laying a stinker in 2001?

This team is scarily reminiscent to 2001.

Can lightning strike twice in the same spot?

Actually it did here in central Texas.

A couple of years ago a man was struck and killed by lightning on I35, then when the officials were on site investigating they got struck by lightning too.

Sorry I wasn't here in 2001 and it appears you weren't either.

This team does not play anything like the 2001 team. The only similarity is that this year‘s team and the 2001 team both sucked the year before.

Not that this means anything but Browns defense is allowing 26 points a game away from Cleveland.
They held Miami to 6, but Tua sucks.

He has 10 INTs and 6 fumbles to date. Playing Tua is like the guy who drills a hole in his boat to let the water out. Supposedly his contract blows up to a gargantuan number next season.
