Vrabel knows him. Might know he’s good enough if used properly. In Mike we trust.Negator here, but if we are claiming players that weren’t good enough for the Swiss cheese D on that team…..
Stick at least for 3 weeks….Seems like a guy who should stick on a 53 man roster. Not sure why the Chargers cut him.
6’3 254lbs that vrabel type end. In 2022 set the NCAA single-season record with 25.5 sacks. Worth a shot.
He made Titans roster as UDFA under Vrabel in 2023, was cut last October and signed to Chargers PS, then made their roster coming out of camp this year. So a borderline roster guy.Seems like a guy who should stick on a 53 man roster. Not sure why the Chargers cut him.
Maybe Chargers were planning to move him back to the PS? Whatever they were thinking I’d imagine Keion White and Anfernee Jennings are feeling less secure with this news.…appeared in six games with the Chargers this season before being waived. He registered 12 tackles, .5 sack and one QB hit while also being a core special-teams player.
In his career, Murphy has logged 17 tackles. He joins Harold Landry III, K’Lavon Chaisson, Keion White, Elijah Ponder and Anfernee Jennings on the Patriots’ outside linebacker depth chart.
Different guy, apparently. He was at UCLA right with his brother ? Or am I thinking of someone else ?
Probably level of competition. How the Christ did he become a UDFA?? Was it just inferior competition or something?
He played college football for the Grand Valley State Lakers before transferring to the Ferris State Bulldogs.
We had luck with one Laker pass rusher.Different guy, apparently.
Probably level of competition.
This is from his Wikipedia page:
I assume Vrabel knows him well from having kept him on the roster in Tennessee. I’d expect coming from that small college background he’s got to be in the NFL because he loves football and has at least some modicum of talent for it. Coming from that kind of college background and taking a shot at making it in the NFL suggests he is Vrabel’s kind of guy. Doesn’t seem to be a risk to the locker room culture that Vrabes is cultivating.
EDIT TO ADD if he’s an upgrade over White or even Jennings he’s a good pickup. We wanted to see them get help on the edge. Maybe he is it.
Meh, can't always go by that. Just like good units can have weaknesses on them, weak overall units can have strengths. And when you're talking about the last few roster spots, it doesn't always matter because those guys aren't playing anyway.Negator here, but if we are claiming players that weren’t good enough for the Swiss cheese D on that team…..

I know nothing about him other than what was reported by @stelfans and in the media since he was claimed. Can you please tell me about his poor play, like what particular weaknesses he might have. It seems setting the NCAA sack record would indicate he wasn’t playing poorly all over the place.Poor testing and poor play against Div I level of competition.

Because Vrabel has plans for him in the Pats D which is good ranked 5th.Negator here, but if we are claiming players that weren’t good enough for the Swiss cheese D on that team…..
