OT: Players you forget were Patriots

Big Ted Washington wasn't a Patriot long enough for a red jacket but if Kraft ever makes an exception to that rule I hope it's him. Meant so much to that 03 defense.
I know people think 04 defense was the best but 03 is my favorite just because of big Ted.

Vincent Brisby. Always liked him. Parcells didn't for some reason.

Bledsoe to Brisby was also great in Madden lol

He was indeed bad in New England, but he received a 5-year $23 million deal from the Cardinals after his rookie deal with the Ravens at a time when the NFL cap was $71 million. They must have thought he was good!

You originally listed Don Davis as a forgotten player. I would have thought you were right first time! My most vivid memory is that he became an ordained minister and was a chaplain to the team.
Thats a lot of money, doesn't mean it was well spent... stayed 3 of the 5 years in Az, only playing in 2 of them... overall, they musta been disappointed... just a bad player all round...

re Don Davis - just because I remember him doesn't mean everyone else does... I liked him as a player, and thought he would be a good mention... ymmv on that point, but at the end of the day, the thread is about (perhaps) forgotten players...

there are plenty of guys I don't remember, and there are a ton of guys who I do remember... and I am sure that goes for most folk here...

I think the most interesting names are those whom everyone knows for other reasons, but whom people don't remember were with the Pats.

My vote for the best entry in the whole thread goes to John Lynch: Hall of Fame player, current franchise GM, but never played in the regular season for the Patriots.

Phil Dawson for me... most of the guys named i had a passing familiarity with... Phil Dawson? he was a new name...

anyone remember scott player? was here for an off season to compete with chris hanson...

If not mentioned already, Marion Butts spent one forgettable season with us.
I was excited when we got him......and he stunk!

Just saw today's inactives and realized I forgot that Tommy Cutlets is on this year's Patriots team!

Fred Dryer

Hunter! Dryer was traded to the New England Patriots in 1972 for three draft choices (a first and a sixth in 1972; a second in 1973). Dryer was eligible to become a free agent in May 1972. He refused to report to the Patriots unless they signed him to a long-term contract making him the highest paid defensive lineman in pro football. The Patriots refused to meet his demands and instead dealt him to the Los Angeles Rams for a 1973 first round draft pick (which they ultimately used to select fullback Sam [Bam] Cunningham) and backup defensive end Rick Cash. If you are a Hunter fan, note that he is a foot taller than Stepfanie Kramer. A fun drinking game is that everyone except the discoverer takes a drink after someone notices an accomodation for their height difference -- for instance standing on stairs so the difference is not so apparent. I like drinking games.
