AFC East Division Race (10/13 - Patriots Now on Top After Bills Loss)

slurp slurp slurp.

As I pointed out elsewhere MVP isn't something you get based on Merit, it's something you get based on how popular you are with sports media.

I think it's funny a fan base who, correctly, defended Tom for decades against the attacks of people who said Rodgers or Manning or whoever were better because they didn't have Tom's defense or weren't in his easy division or other horseshit is now tossing Josh Allen's salad because he allegedly doesn't have a defense.

He's a piker, he'll never win anything unless he pulls a Peyton in Super Bowl 50 and has his team carry him to one.

Josh Allen is a great player, if you can't see that then you're an idiot. But don't let football keep you from sucking your boyfriend's ****, as that's what you were apparently engaged in when you answered me earlier. You must have slurp to text on your phone.

Just here to say “oh snap”.

Pats are now considered 90% locks to make the playoffs given remaining schedules.

Would've been nice to see the Broncos and Colts lose but it's all about making the playoffs healthy

2025 NFL Post Season Probabilities

Just for kicks, scroll down to the Jets who have less than 1% chance of making the playoffs

How many people predicted 6-2 at week 8?

Pats post-Brady rebuilding plan:

1. Suck for 5 years
2. Suck bad enough to be able to draft Drake Maye
3. Hire Mike Vrabel

Looking at the preseason prediction thread, I had us at 5-3 by this point, which I thought was almost homerific, and here we are.

The post-Brady life I wanted was to at least be competitive and contend on some level. I'm starting to catch feels with this team...but I choose not to be conflicted and just enjoy the ride at this point.

Points allowed over the 5 game winning streak:

13
20
19
13
13

Average of 15.6 ppg.

The Pats have scored 153 points in those 5 games, for a 30.6 average.

They have also score over 30 points in 4 out of their 8 games. The last time they score 30 points prior to this season was 10/16/22. They did not score more than 25 points in all of 2024.

Division is going to come down to two things: the next game against the Bills and who finishes strong during the last quarter of the schedule. Pats haven't had a winning record during that stretch since 2018. Bills have gone on a tear once December rolls around since 2020.

If the NO game was officiated even somewhat fair, this would be 4 blowouts in 5 weeks with the one close win in buffalo. We’re not just beating teams, we are dominating.

For all the talk about our easy schedule, let's not forget the Bills play the exact same schedule, of course with only 3 different opponents based on a first place schedule.

Buffalo's opponents:
KC, PHI, HOU

Patriots' opponents:
LV, NYG, TEN

Patriots have already lost to LV, so if Buffalo loses to KC that's basically a wash. Houston and Tennessee are both bad. The biggest differential is Philly and the Giants. By my count, that's only a 1 MAYBE a 2 game advantage in our SOS. If the Patriots win the division, it'll be because they earned it not because of an easier schedule

Also if the Pats beat the Falcons they pick up a common games W on the Bills who already lost to them.

How far down the tiebreaker list does that go? Is it right after conference record?

Sure, but BUF is established. They have track record to fall back on. The Pats are new. People are questioning whether their "arrival" is genuine or just a blip. It only goes back to this season so there's nothing to fall back on. You have to make the call of if they're for real entirely on the 8 games they've played so far. With BUF, there's such a long track record now of them being a deep playoff run kind of team. So weak schedule or not, no one really questions whether they're good enough to be there at the end as of right now. With us, people are still feeling out if the start is for real.

If both teams have the same record and split the season series, I think it goes to conference record. Then, records against common opponents. After that, it gets into point differential.

For the division it goes H2H then division record. If that's still tied then common opponents followed by conference record. Then strength of victory, then schedule, etc.

Conference record used to be before common opponents, that was switched in 2002 and that's why the Pats were denied the playoffs that year.

In the context of the divisional race though, there's not some crazy advantage the Pats have over Buffalo. If it comes down to a 1 game difference, and its because Buffalo lost to Philly while we beat NY, that might be an argument for it. But I don't like this insinuation that the two teams are playing drastically different schedules. It's 3 games out of 17, and we've already blown it to one of those 3. No excuses for Buffalo if the Patriots take the division

Buffalo and KC will be there in the end, that’s who the Pats will have to play if they reach the playoffs, add in LA and the Colts and the Broncos, BTW the Broncos 44 points wasn’t just defense yesterday. There is still a tough climb for the Pats, Im encouraged but also not going to get too amped up yet, I want to see them beat Miami (again), the Jets and Buffalo (again). Heck by the time they get the Ravens that might not be a cakewalk either.
