NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

I want Drake to go back to titans and redeem himself from last season..
Rham ran the ball 10 times and got a total of 16 yards. He's got to have a redemption game as well.

Mason Rudolph was the QB for them. He had a good game. He's probably better then Ward.

As great at Diggs has been. Teams don't respect anything vertical from us. Is exactly why they play up closer to the line of scrimmage.. if Williams could start making some deep completions it changes the way teams have to defend us.
Yet we are among the best in the league in 20+ yd throws based on some stats I saw here, IIRC. Pretty sure we are going to see fewer 8 man fronts going forward

Zuma: we want to win the game: not fumble it to them. I like how they're using Rham in pass pro: he's our best from the RB position; though Henderson is coming on.

Maye's pocket presence is improving as we speak. He's playing like Baker Mayfield from the pocket: always keeping his eyes downfield.

I don’t want to trade Boutte, but he is a free agent next season right?
So I would trade Kyle Williams and a third for AJ Brown.

Boutte is signed through next season. Why trade him now?

If they are going to trade him, trade him after the season where they can get more after a full season of production like he is doing so far this year. His value would be more after the season. In season trades tend to not get as much value in return compared to offseason trades.

That said, I wouldn't be trading Boutte the way he is playing now especially with Diggs only as a shorter term solution. I would be trying to extend Boutte now while you can get him on more of a value deal.

Boutte is not the fastest or shiftiest WR, but he is one of the best at actually catching the damn ball. Keep him if you can.

though Henderson is coming on.
He had 27 yards on 9 carries against the Saints. His season average is 25 yards per game with 3.6 average per carry. I don't see much improvement / production but I do think it will happen...eventually.

Lazar made the point that if you trade for a WR, you're taking a player off the field who is already doing well: Diggs, Boutte or Pop. Whereas if you add a safety, RB or LB, you're replacing a player who is either injured or not playing well. So you're getting more bang for your buck by focusing at those positions.

Conceptually he's correct that replacing bad players is more bang for your buck, but the productive player classification doesn't apply to Pop. Yes, he had two big plays vs. NO last week (counting one called back). Great! He still only played 25.0% of the snaps. Week before vs. BUF... 28.3%. Week before vs. CAR... 16.3%.Against PIT? 39.2%. 25.0% vs. MIA. 63.4% vs LV in the opener. On the season he has 10 catches for 101 yards, and 53 came on one play vs. NO last week. Whatever people THINK Pop MIGHT be able to do is not happening right now. He is not producing, at all.

Let's add in Mack Hollins. His snap counts by game are 53.5% vs. LV, 65.0% vs. MIA, 62.2% vs. PIT, 49.0% vs. CAR, 58.3% vs. BUF, 54.7% vs NO. And we all know he isn't much of a receiver - 9 catches, 70 yards.

I'm sure there are some snaps where they share the field, but added up and, roughly, for 75% of their offensive plays they have one of those guys in there and both are producing basically nothing. So everything Lazar said about how at safety, RB or LB we'd be replacing an unproductive player ALSO applies to WR. Like a lot of Pats fan he's either just in denial about Pop actually ibeing good so far in his career or has blind faith that he suddenly will be a good, productive player.

We are. But teams seem to load the box to play the run.. that's indicative of the DCs not fearing the deep ball. I'd love it to see less of it. Sure rham and Henderson would as well.

Ugh.. Mason Rudolph looked like Tom Brady the way he was carving up Jerod rust defense.. I had never ever seen Rudolph play that well even in a preseason game.

I get that and I wouldn't Trade for just any WR: but A.J. Bowns is pretty special: he's a clear #1 Receiver.

Everyone knows that except the WR crazies who post non-stop (so it may appear there are a lot more of them than there really is).

Fortunately there are a lot of free safety and sideline-to-sideline LB types in this draft. We need a safety and LB that can cover (day 1 or 2).

Agreed. This is supposed to be a good LB draft class, so there's no sense giving up too many resources for an in-season trade that are going to serve us well in the draft.

You know who else isn’t the fastest or shiftiest…..AJ Brown

Evan Lazar said teams have been stacking the box and playing single high safety against us much more than league average because they didn't fear our passing game. Pretty sure that will be ending soon.

I would like to know if Bourne asked for his release: because you can clearly see that Tarzan Holllins is not a good Receiver. The amount of snaps he's logging is criminal: I don't get the love affair with the guy. Have you seen the amount of yardage Bourne's put up since he left with Mac Jones??

Guess who said this on March 21st 2025:

"He's an upgrade over Bourne: I'm an upgrade over the overrated Bourne. Somebody cut that guy already. "

The way our passing game is going, if they want to continue stacking the box, that's ok with me.
