...the defensive front was very lethargic against the saints.

it really wasn't

I'm with @JMC00 on this one. That Saints interior O-line put on a master class in getting away with holding, like a Broncos in XXXII level master class. Screw sending the tapes of the OPI's to the league office, the Pats should be sending tapes of the line play in that one if they don't want to see that **** every week.

I get it maust. Was just a quick observation as rattler was completing passes as a high rate. But to your point the refs totally bothered this game and hopefully during the playoffs this crew doesn't cost a team a game. I'm with you man.

The timing makes it a total "no mas" move.

You're admitting that your organization is no good at picking a leader (with a 3-14 season followed by 1-5), but also that you can't handle a direct comparison to his predecessor.

To me it seems like Amy chose surrender in the face of her enemy instead of an honorable defeat.

Meanwhile, Callahan will enjoy a paid vacation on Amy's dime, just like Mike did last year. Google suggests his contract was $3M/year for five years all guaranteed so he's got another $10M or so he can bank courtesy of Amy.

Forgotten amidst this madness is that Callahan's father was the Titans' OL coach, who understandably resigned with his son getting canned.

100% agree, really though you could have stopped right there

This is how you know Barmore is truly taking the leap this year. He's making disruptive plays DESPITE the holding and double teams.

That's 2010-12 Wilfork-type stuff.

Oh ok. Thanks for that information. Even though we should win this game.. due to the fact is the 3rd road game.. so many physical factors can come into play.. the defensive front was very lethargic against the saints. This is game you want to just win by 3 or 23.. get the win and get out with no major injuries.
I'm just going to assume you were distracted by all the shiny WRs in the game, to notice Barmore putting on an absolute clinic.

It was a 'For Your Consideration' highlight reel for the DPOY voters, type stuff. He was absolutely incredible.

You could be right there Tommy.. was just my initial thought.. I didn't like the 76% completion percentage rattler was throwing at..

Context matters. For the most part that completion % was achieved by Rattler throwing the ball where the Pats preferred him to. Particularly in the 2nd half. Take away the poorly executed safety coverage on Carlton's dogshit effort corner blitz that left Olave wide open and it was a fairly pedestrian 76%. That one bad defensive play, accounting for 53 yards, taken out of the equation would've left Rattler with a still sterling completion percentage but all of 174 yards on the day

NEXT run play. Only 6 in the box, TE goes out to block DB as they do the fake WR screen then hand off to Rham.
Everything is a mess. The RE is lined up between the C and Guard. So Bradbury decides he will take the RE. Meanwhile Campbell crashes down on the same guy while Wilson goes behind Campbell to block the LB. I assume this is to make it appear like Wilson is going to go out to block the WR screen, maybe?

Since Bradbury blocked the same guy Campbell was crashing down on the middle LB 5 yards in front of Bradbury just beelines for the backfield. Campbell sees it and gets off the block but no way in a million years is he fast enough to get to the LB. Bradbury should have chipped the DE, let Campbell finish and come off for the LB. Terrible blocking scheme. Was it on Bradbury or the coaching I don't know.

At the same time Onwenu is beat and Rham has to sidestep, slowing his momentum and the unblocked LB is now 3 yards in the backfield, and the other LB has gotten around Wilson to help. IF Onwenu made a slightly better block then Wilson's guy would not have gotten into the play, but since Rham had to stutter steps he gets involved. It's all moot because the unblocked LB is 3 yards in the backfield untouched.
I am a little fascinated by that play the more I look at it.

I think Campbell was supposed to sprint to the ILB instead of chipping the DL. If he hits that ILB from his angle, it removes him completely from the play, as everyone else was clearly instructed to not get beat inside.

Rham could have burst forward and all the defenders who won to the outside would have just run themselves out of the play.

When I visualize Campbell getting to the ILB, you get a symmetry to everyone's blocking angle and the designed hole becomes clear- only the safety could have tackled Rham.

When I visualize Bradbury blocking that ILB, the hole is less obvious, because then Campbell would have been pushing the DL to the spot Rham was positioned to hit.

I'd love to hear the coach's review of that play.

And that's the trouble when we break a play down without really knowing what its designed blocking called for. I initially visualized it as Bradbury's assignment then virtually everyone else being a half step or more late. Seen in the context you laid out it's completely different.

And Bradbury is a pretty smart veteran so it is questionable that he would forget his assignment that we right in front of him. Maybe a TE was supposed to make a Wham block?

I dont know much about the Titans this year so I went to one of their forums and looked up the week 7 thread thinking they would be talking about the upcoming game. I read through about 5 pages of zero discussion about the match up. They talked about everything but the game...wtf.

In fairness, if we were in year 2, week 7 of the Jerod Mayo / Eliot Wolf era and if Amy Adams were our owner, our pregame thread might look similar….

Possibly.....but their thread isnt even on fire and rounds being slung down range like is common around here over just about anything. I guess if you stay on the bottom year in and year out it just grinds you down to a point where its just the norm.

In fairness if Miss Amy were the Pats owner I suspect there'd be a lot of high dives off the Tobin and this place would be a ghost town

I don’t think Landrys gonna want to miss this one and guessing moses might be one of those precautionary days off. But if theres a week we can afford to be conservative its probably this one.
