I’ve been saying for ages that the Chiefs were mostly an NFL creation, designed to quickly diminish Brady and the Patriots’ amazing achievements. Mahomes is a great quarterback, but he’s definitely not Brady.

Well, it seems like they’ve stumbled upon that very thing. Plus, it shows that this kind of officiating wasn’t around during the Brady years or any other “dynastic” team. Who would have guessed? I mean, I suppose it would need some outside verification, but to me, it makes sense to what I’ve been watching for years, until last year’s Super Bowl.

Pretty interesting. I'd love to see the actual rundown. I can infer their methodology, but I have suspected that you can probably find the evidence if you looked hard enough.

What's also interesting is the conclusion that this protection stopped in 2023. Sunday night's game might suggest otherwise.

Nice to get some quantitative affirmation for what has been apparent to many.

Thats a fair point. I watched Sunday night as well and saw the lack of calls against the Queefs. Maybe the NE Phoenix rising from the ashes spooked the NFL into reverting?

Thoughts?

I totally believe that the owners want certain teams built up and certain matches created that will bring in the biggest audience and ratings. Im sure it was their wet dream when Kelce and Swift hooked up. All those swifties tuning in a ratings bonanza. Pre godell the owners belonged to a rich boys club that owned a team for bragging rights, civic and reginal pride. Post godell its about making money any way possible, from changing the rules to gambling, and in doing so ruining the game. We watched this sunday night, i think the powers that be want a mahomes vs allen rematch. The pats are a threat to win the division

One hand washes the other.

The Refs get a catered KC BBQ feast working the Chiefs game. Then Mahomes hands out free meal vouchers for his restaurant 1587 where a burger and fries is $45. Next is Mr Swift hooking up the Refs with his wife's concert tickets and a meet and greet.

Every Ref in the NFL wants to cash in on a KC game.

The NFL is a business, not a court of esteemed judges (do those still exist in the US?). I enjoy football but I know it’s only slightly less orchestrated than WWF wrestling. The games are not rigged but the league gently places its hands on the scale for certain outcomes. That’s why I love when darling teams get blown out in big games (Broncos 2013-14 SB, Chiefs 2024-25 SB).

We're in a modern era of dubious ethics by businesses of all types and exiting an era where money was raining from the sky. Of course the NFL joined the ethics gray area to hoover up cash.

The hit on Branch should have been a penalty.

What a crock of BS to preach player safety and then allow a cheepshot like that. I see helmet to helmet hits all the time and there is no call.

You may be kidding, but Taylor Swift has in fact facetimed a ref's friends and family prior to a game.

Imagine if Gisele had done that. The outrage would have been justified, for once, because it's plain bribery.

With Swift it was swept under the rug.

Check the script and follow the money folks. Every compelling sports story needs a strong villain. The economic growth Big $hield saw during the Pats run wasn't lost on them. David going up against some average Joe isn't all that compelling but him battling Goliath sure is.

Tonight, the Dynasty is born baby.

Truer words were never spoken. The Pats weren't Goliath yet. They were the feel good story, the plucky little team that could. The cast of nobodies that beat The Greatest Show On Turf.

And when they in turn morphed into The Empire, even better.

Oh, I do not doubt her clout.

All these Refs have daughters and grandchildren. Its always about what is in it for me.
