A line ? That franchise has been utterly embarrassing for the better part of every North American life (Japanese people live forever - if they followed the sport, they might remember a time the NYJ weren’t embarrassing).
Last time Jets won Super Bowl, or were even in it.. LBJ was President!!!

Kind of weird timing. Not that PR should drive decisions, but you'd think they don't fire the head coach the week of playing their old head coach who they somewhat controversially fired while his team has some buzz going. That's just a bad look that highlights how you made a poor decision on that.
Par for the course from their owner. Former GM Jon Robinson was fired right after the Titans lost to the Eagles with AJ Brown having a big day.

I have family in Nashville, and my cousin is huge titans fan. He's says thier ownership is so dysfunctional.. and that Vrabel at least gave them some success and direction as a HC when he was there.. he said Vrabel never really got over the fact of them trading away AJ..

That right there is when the relationship between Vrabel and ownership likely started to fizzle..

Supposedly it really fell apart when Adams asked for Vrabel’s input on the next GM, he recommended interim GM Cowden, and she went out and hired Carthon from outside the organization.

Top song of the day :

Heard it through the grapevine (week of that SB)
Some things invented since then:

1970: The pocket calculator is invented.
1971: The first single-chip microprocessor, the Intel 4004, is invented. Its development was led by Federico ***gin, using his silicon-gate MOS technology. This led to the personal computer (PC) revolution.[567]
1971: The first space station, Salyut 1, is launched.
1971: IBM developed and released the world's first floppy disk and disk drive.[568]
1972: The first video game console, used primarily for playing video games on a TV, is the Magnavox Odyssey.[569]
1972: Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen developed genetic modification when they successfully modified DNA[403]
1973: The first fiber optic communication systems were developed by Optelecom.[570]
1973: The first commercial graphical user interface is introduced in 1973 on the Xerox Alto. The modern GUI is later popularized by the Xerox Star and Apple Lisa.
1973: The first capacitive touchscreen is developed at CERN.
1974: The Transmission Control Program is proposed by Vinton Cerf and Robert E. Kahn, building on the work of Louis Pouzin and other Internet pioneers, creating the basis for the modern Internet.[571][572]
1974: The lithium-ion battery is invented by M. Stanley Whittingham, and further developed in the 1980s and 1990s by John B. Goodenough, Rachid Yazami and Akira Yoshino. It has impacted modern consumer electronics and electric vehicles.[573]
1974: The Rubik's cube is invented by Ernő Rubik which went on to be the best selling puzzle ever.[574]

I do..

Could you imagine the absolute **** storm if they bought bill out from UNC? Him, Jordan, and Fat Amy? It would be Jete Midwest. I think the orange buffon is the worst leader in our history but I'd fly to the Nobel committee with a plane load of strippers to get him his award if he made this happen.

I don't know, this looks like a perfect time. The guy was 4-19, and the team was going nowhere. You've decided to make a change. Why not this week. If you keep him another week, you are looking at a week of full-on Vrabel talk and given the job he is doing here it is ALL going to be negative. Now that media story will be muted with the big story being focused on the coaching change. So why not do it now.

I thought the Jets had a very good Draft with Sauce and Wilson not too long ago: now they're still in the running for #1.
It's spooky weird how bad they are considering how much talent they do seem to bring in on the whole

Goes to show what happens when you screw up the QB and HC

I respectfully disagree, Ken.

It is almost never right to fire a coach in the middle of a season. Why? Because the middle of a season is a very bad time to hire a new head coach. The only ones available are internal promotions from within your organization or coaches who are out of football.

But if you hire an Interim Head Coach you put yourself in an impossible situation. Either he does well and re-builds the team, in which case you are under pressure to appoint him as a permanent Head Coach and there will be division if he doesn't get the job, or he takes the organization further downhill.

When I see a coach fired mid-season, I see an organization that puts emotion above logic.

(Note: When I said "almost never", it's clear that when a coach is behaving badly and there is a complete breakdown of relationships he has to go. Example: Urban Meyer in Jacksonville.)

You'd have to pay those strippers a lot of money to deal with all that dripping diarrhea, and I don't mean the putrescence that comes out of his mouth.

Yes, and then carthon didn't last to long.. didn't carthon answer Vrabel not see eye to eye?.. I believe Vrabel's experience in Tennessee is wich in his desire to be in charge of the roster was pivotal in him coming back to NE as HC of course.

The timing makes it a total "no mas" move.

You're admitting that your organization is no good at picking a leader (with a 3-14 season followed by 1-5), but also that you can't handle a direct comparison to his predecessor.

To me it seems like Amy chose surrender in the face of her enemy instead of an honorable defeat.

Meanwhile, Callahan will enjoy a paid vacation on Amy's dime, just like Mike did last year. Google suggests his contract was $3M/year for five years all guaranteed so he's got another $10M or so he can bank courtesy of Amy.

And people say I'm harsh on late period Bill...
