Today's game did emphasize that the Patriots really need to find a decent RB option.

Stevenson had an absolute stinker of a game and we had nobody viable to replace him. 1.4 YPC for Stevenson.

Henderson had a few carries but not a performance that makes you think he can be the lead back yet. 3.0 YPC for Henderson.

I'm not asking for the moon, just a reliable veteran RB who will pick up 4-5 ypc for us on Sundays.

I’d go with both. And spend the rest of the draft re-fortifying the interior and right side of the OL, and finding a RB to pair with Henderson. If we can hit on all that during FA and the draft, I think we’re there.

I would go

Safety
Linebacker
Right guard
Tight end
Running back

In order of priority . But draft based on whoever is best available amongst these categories. Do not force fit folks unnecessarily.

I would trade a 2nd for olave if possible. Our second has historically been useless. Better to trade it.

If the 2024 draft was re-done, not only would Maye go 1st overall, he might not go the the Bears as another team trades a ransom to get him.

SO happy with how Maye is turning out.

Feels great to be relevant again, even envied by other fan bases.
It’s amazing teams didn’t have Drake Maye as a generational prospect. Best QB prospect I studied going back 10 years.
What’s been missing are the deep passes. A good college QB would make 40% of deep balls accurately, Maye was around 80%, might be best deep ball thrower in history. Finally had a chance to show some of that today.

Can’t run without blocking

Can't head this one off Maust.
As I mentioned, I rarely complain about the officiating, I've just come to accept that it is horrible every week.
However.....today was a different level of ****ery. Again, might be the 2 worst OPI calls I've ever seen, both negating huge plays.

Also as out of stater who refuses to pay for Sunday ticket, I listened to the game on Sirius and thought Zolak was going to have a stroke with all the bad calls by Adrian Hill's crew.

I was actually shocked at how Fair Archuleta was being. He couldn't believe the bad calls that were being made.. Same with Gene Steretore.

How should we feel about Rhamondre's 13 carries for 18 yards? He can pass block - fine - but should shouldn't a "lead back," a "big back,"be able to run the damned ball as well? Shouldn't he produce reliably substantial yards on early downs? If he can't do that, he is useless in the role. Add to this the fumbling problems, and I do not see any sense at all in Vrabel's insistence that "we need his talents n the field." That is ********, as far as I'm concerned.

One thing I noticed today for some reason: Drake has otherworldly vision and movement in the pocket. For a fairly tall, substantial guy, his quickness is pretty remarkable.
The thing I've noticed is his unbelievable downfield accuracy on plays that aren't looking very promising. How about the bomb to Diggs (called back) followed by the bomb to Hollins (where they didn't call PI)? Right on the money with both.

I think the 2024 draft might be the first NFL draft in history where the two QB's taken after the #1 pick all turned out better than him: Daniels and Maye.
2017 comes close, Trubisky was #1 before Mahomes and Deshaun watson.

The OL has been very solid pass blocking, and the few times they've had an issue, Maye often moved in the pocket to negate the guy who got free. Now imagine if the team can actually get their run blocking figured out and had a competent rushing game - watch the hell out.

This just makes the call so much worse. "Blocking"??? You call the Saints player grabbing him and him pushing back, as is done on every NFL pass play, "blocking"? What an idiotic take on a bad call.
If that ******** explanation means that they actually looked at the replay of Diggs, then all the more shame on them cause on review it was clearly not a penalty of any kind.

I think he meant in his mind he reran the scenario
