The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

The classic vote of confidence for a coach in October after game 5 of his tenure.

Nope nothing to see here folks.

UNC: We are committed to Bill Belichick (until we are no longer committed).

I've literally said we're lucky we got Vrabel so GFY. Also you just want to hate Bill and pretend you're not so also GFY.
You are shockingly obtuse Jordan. Two things can, in fact , exist in parallel… one can appreciate what Bill did, AND point out that he turned into a raging tool around 2020.

I rarely post here and when I do, it's usually on the draft board, but I really just feel compelled to say that this is one of the most fascinating examples of cognitive bias I've ever seen on a sports message board. That's saying something, as I've seen hundreds of people just completely lose it when trying to defend their opinion in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Why is it so hard for this dude to accept that Bill isn't a great coach anymore? The guy's 73 and he's been coaching for 50 years. It would be more remarkable if he *didn't* fall off dramatically as he aged. Very few head coaches have been successful into their 70s. It's an extremely physically and mentally demanding job, especially in college. It's also incredibly time consuming and I think it's completely and utterly understandable for anyone great at anything to become rapidly less great as they reach an advanced age.

Anyways I just thought this whole back and forth was pretty interesting. I'm sure there's some backstory I'm missing that puts things in a different perspective or something.

Ah yes, Kitchens explains shy Clemson invoked the informal mercy rule to not run up the score last Saturday.
I'm just passing along what I was told.

I’ll admit it…I suspected this expiriment wouldn’t go great. To me, that meant 5-6 win seasons.

That was pre-Jordan surfacing, pre-carnival freakshow, and this is FAR worse than anything I ever could have imagined.

In 5 games Bill likely presided over the most dysfunctional CFB team since …ever and likely will get UNC sanctioned by the NCAA.

Not only did he badly screw over those kids, he screwed over his coaches, sons, and torched his own reputation in a way I thought impossible a year ago.

It’s nearly incomprehensible.

NO WAY he ever gets ANY HC job again.

He also has given Kraft a pretty easy out to never give him a statue or HOF enshrinement (not that BB likely cares).

I don't think Belichick wants a statue or to be in their HOF. I think that he believes he's sticking it to the Patriots by denying them both of those things. He is one petulant little *****.

It's ok I'm nOt WeLcOmE ThErE AnYwAy

Next time BB is on TV after he's fired will be Celebrity Big Brother. Lmao

Whats the point of this photo?

Every pats fan loves what Bill did as a HC from 2001 to 2018. But that doesnt change the fact that he is a creep for parading around a 24 year old dressing like a prostitute and now sucks as a HC.

Brady is the GOAT but I'm not a fan of his commentary. His being the GOAT doesnt mean he is a great commentator or will be a great part owner and I could care less if he ever wins anything as an owner of the Raiders.

The problem is some fans devoted to Belichick truly thought Bill could have won a Superbowl with any QB and that Brady was lucky to have Belichick when in reality that wasn't true.

The bashing of Bill exists purely to annoy the cultists who forced this board to create an entirely new sub section because their butt hurt egos couldn't stand seeing Brady succeed without Belichick.

The whining cultists hijacked every thread whining that celebrating Brady meant you weren't a pats fans and now its the cultists turn to have it cramed down their throat that their hero sucks now both on and off the field. So reap the karma you have sown.

Not claiming you are a Bill cultist just pointing out the culture that led to this.
I never thought that coaching mattered as much as it did to many fans. That all changed when I saw how poorly the Pats did under Mayo's leadership. And now, ironically, the same thing is happening to UNC under Belichick.

This board went south when Bill's rumpswabs decided that any talk of Brady needed to be banned after Bill chased him away. According to the former mod who started that ball rolling she had eight fans complaining about the Brady talk.

Yet a separate forum wasn't enough for Bill's rumpswabs. They felt like they had to troll that forum. One of them even bragged about going there to troll and did, along with a couple others. And now he's here acting like he had no part in that nonsense.

The idea that Ian needed to start a separate forum to talk about the greatest Pats and NYFL QB of all time is about as pathetic as it gets. This board has never been the same since.

Bubba and UNC better be careful, there might be a sequel.

You know the fact that you never actually address anyone directly is a constant display on how weak your stances are. There's at least a dozen people here who have brought it up to you.

Kinda makes one think that he's after that shock and not after an honest discussion, ya know, like a troll...

I don't know why you think your pictures and instagram stories are anything but that.

They aren't, they're just things for him to jerk off to.

Tunes really made his day by posting those pictures of fleshy Bill.

He's really getting his hopes up that Jordon will let him tag in with Bill.

You might be onto something. From my same person that brought you 'The leak came from the parents of a WR' just now sent, unprompted to me:

"UNC is telling recruits to expect news that may affect their NIL and other commitments to the university."

And they're under the impression that means they're firing Kinchens.

It won't work. The rot starts from the head of the fish.

This is an attempt to use a fall guy presumably to address the recruiting violations accusation, but it goes deeper than that.

This doesn't address the issues in the WRAL report about inaccessibility, lack of communication, team division, lack of focus and lack of decorum.

Bill has to have a "come to Jesus" moment and realize he's the reason the team is floundering and make major changes in his approach at UNC.

If he doesn't, it'll keep floundering.

He's been trolling the last couple hundred pages at this point. I guess he found it easier to admit defeat by trolling rather than just come out and admit Bill is pathetic.

I said before, this thread wouldn't have lasted more than 15 or so pages if he just conceded that his record without Brady was very bad and that 11 years is a fair enough sample size to evaluate him without Brady to determine what he is as a coach without the GOAT.

His problem is that he knows that deep down. But he thinks people are impressed with his stupid instagram posts he uses to deflect and avoid the conversation when he starts losing it. He doesn't realize that everyone has seen threw all that **** by now and it just makes him look immature

Newsflash as well…. Nobody cares about him winning rings as a coordinator. It’s actually embarrassing bringing them up.

I appreciate the post. Your opinion is noted and a very nice change from what most of the children around here write. Your post actually shows reverance for Bill. You take zero pot shots at Bill and all you say is Bill isn't a good coach anymore. I never denied that it could be done. You're not using the end to bring up ego or nepotism, blaming Bill for Brady leaving, Butler bashing, or the countless other ways these other clowns disparage the GOAT.

He will always be the greatest COACH of all time. No one else is winning as much as he did and I think had he been given a little more time here he would have picked a better QB than Mac and things would be different. I still think if UNC gives him enough time that he'll get that team playing good football.

But the real point is that this board has just let the haters take over and no one else is willing to call them out for the bull crap. But I don't stay silent I speak up about the things I care about and will defend it forever.

Just take a look at the posts between what you wrote and my response to what you wrote. It says everything you need to know about who's a fraud.

This is not the national news story UNC poobahs were hoping for.
I mean, no one was really expecting their record to be different than it is - at least none of the booster or anyone in the athletic department.

It really is just about whether they feel the program is going in the right direction or not.

Public perception can play into that no doubt - obviously some casual fans probably think he should be 5-0 and anything less is failure. But everyone involved in the program was realistic that Year 1 was going to be full rebuilding and it was going to be a 5 year rebuild.

While I fully expected a losing record myself, it seems clear they are moving in the wrong direction for numerous reasons, including the fact that Belichick has inexplicably broken all his cardinal rules and has made himself a distraction.

Basically Belichick from the Patriots era would fire Belichick from the UNC era and not think twice about it.
