The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Jerry Thornton is such a Belichick hater.
I don't blame those people taking shots Bill didn't have to treat people just doing their jobs like dirt he chose to do it

I would be relishing digging his grave with my media platform and making out like it was all Brady and he was just a bystander if he spoke to me like dirt for years, you reap what you sow.

People are getting their payback now, not all of it will be fair but maybe if he treated people with respect he'd be treated with the same back.

A lot of people waited a long time for this, a lot of people who hated him had to kiss his ass and tell everyone how great he was now we see what some of those people really though when they had the chance for payback.

I’ll always believe the national perception of the -gate scandals driven by the media would have been quite a bit different if Bill wasn’t a prick to them

Imagine, Belichick to Baltimore.

Aa what the team mascot? At this point in his career he is a clown.

He made a huge mistake not just sticking to a media gig when he decided to take on a 24 year old girlfriend and allow her to be his personal spokesperson

She's the proverbial dragon lady. His downslide in New England (late 2021-2023) coincided with the start of their relationship.
No it started earlier. Benching Butler and pushing Brady out the door without a successor were before Ms. Hudson entered the picture. His judgement was impaired to even enter into that relationship in the first place.

The cult has to stop making excuses and blaming others for Coach’s descent. It’s his own doing.

SBB keeps calling people “haters”, but I certainly don’t hate Belichick. I have rooted for him and his teams for 40 years and genuinely care about him as a human being.

However, I seriously dislike and resent his sycophants who bullied, shouted down or silenced any poster on here who saw what was happening and it’s affect on the team and tried to discuss it as it was transpiring.

Frankly, his apologizers and fanboys in the fan base and media are as responsible for Bill’s descent as anyone other than himself. If someone had actually stood up to him to explain himself RE: Butler and he received the criticism he so richly deserved for that “non-football decision “, perhaps, he would not have continued on his petty, ego fueled descent that has so deeply tarnished his legacy.

I don't know if you are aware if this or not, but Thornton was Belichick's biggest fanboy. For him to write that tells you just how far Belichick has fallen.

It will be more than that if you include the assistants and the front office guys.
This speaks to the strangeness of the situation. Normally when you fire the HC midseason, an assistant takes over as the interim HC and generally speaking the rest of the staff keep their jobs.

But here you have a lot of "Belichick guys", not to mention 2 of his sons, on the staff. A midseason house cleaning is practically unheard of but could happen here.

My laugh is because the “anonymous source” who didn’t want their name on it… has their name on it. Lol
I caught that too and made a little image (see above) before I saw your post here.

Seriously Bill for once humble yourself and do your legacy a favor and just say i'm too old for this and retire.

That's a message everyone can understand.
+1 +1 +1

Right now the best way for him to save face is to take responsibility and fall on his sword. Say he worked as hard as he could but admit he doesn't have the skill set for the college game, apologize to the alums, say it was a mutual decision made with the AD for the best of the program - and don't bad mouth anyone on his way out.

I’ll admit it…I suspected this expiriment wouldn’t go great. To me, that meant 5-6 win seasons.

That was pre-Jordan surfacing, pre-carnival freakshow, and this is FAR worse than anything I ever could have imagined.

In 5 games Bill likely presided over the most dysfunctional CFB team since …ever and likely will get UNC sanctioned by the NCAA.

Not only did he badly screw over those kids, he screwed over his coaches, sons, and torched his own reputation in a way I thought impossible a year ago.

It’s nearly incomprehensible.

NO WAY he ever gets ANY HC job again.

He also has given Kraft a pretty easy out to never give him a statue or HOF enshrinement (not that BB likely cares).

Look on the bright side, now Bill can take his girlfriend trick or treating since he won't have a job.

I bet she knows a few tricks...

I’m sad for BB. He was my fav sports figure for many years.

I guess not all greats get to go out on top. But BB is really making it tough to defend him in recent years. He’s an interesting character.

Yeah, that would be the smart thing to do. I sure hope he would follow such a path. Yet I will point out that one thing the WRAL report points out how Bill seems to isolate himself from others and is poor at communicating.

My take is that for whatever reason he's in a "I don't give a ****" mode. He doesn't care what people think about his relationship. He doesn't care what people think about how he does his job. I think it'll be a huge challenge to get him back to a place where he gives a ****. I don't think people around him have his best interest at heart so they won't do much to try to help him get back to that place.

If the posts are true that he is negotiating a way out from UNC, I doubt it's about any concern he may have about damaging his reputation. I bet it's more about him simply not liking the job, for all kinds of different reasons.

If your still defending current and present BB, your pounding the koolaid. He looks like a total buffoon, what a total disaster.
