I hate to bring this up, but you've got to put Daniel Jones above Maye for now. He's had 2 great games this year, Danny Dimes has had 4. He's got years of experience on Maye and, as it's becoming more and more clear week by week, what happened in New york was more on the Giants franchise than it was on Jones himself.

Any list done in your style that doesn't put the current NFL leader in yardage and leader of the #1 seed in the NFL if the season ended today, in the top 5, is flawed by its very nature.
Danny Dimes have Jonathan Taylor the best RB in the AFC and some solid Receivers. That said I'm very happy for him.

So did Anthony Richardson.

I'm just saying, it's not JUST the support echelons. He's got to execute and use them. And he is.

Who knows, but the coming out party on the national scene may have continued in private with newly minted Mrs. Maye. His girlfriend since the seventh grade. Remember the picture of his proposal? On a knee and almost as tall as the little lass.

Maybe she grows round wombed and gives a child to our very own Flash Gordon.

Lord knows when the madness hit the maternity ward nearly nine months after the 2004 Red Sox miracle,I had to explain to a bewildered and frazzled nurse what was going on. She picked up real quick.

Never know, in nine months Mr. and Mrs. Maye may be bewildered and frazzled.

Stranger things have been known to happen.

Why dd I just read that?

You couldn't help yourself I suppose.

I agree. Great upside, but I’m not even sure they make the playoffs this year. I feel next year will be like we’ve truly arrived as a team, we need one more good draft and free agency period to be considered a true playoff team and contender. I felt the Pats could be an 8 or 9 win team in 2025, which in essence a great jump for a 4 win team.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if they make the playoffs THIS year, they may not be able to match up personnel wise, but with great coaching and great confidence, anything could happen.

They need to win the next 3 games, they are all winnable games. Don’t lay any eggs, and they’ll be 6-2. It’s something that can be easily attainable if they don’t lay any eggs. Consistency is key.

I have felt from the first day after the draft thst they would challenge for a wild card spot this year, now I believe they will get one. Now I want them to get a wild card and win a playoff game.

Disagree completely, he's the best player in football. They would have won a Suprr Bowl if their defense hadn't given up points in 13 seconds.
Nice to see there's at least one other poster who knows this.
Allen is the best QB on the planet, and would have rings if not for his D and horrendous coach.

Allen is a class act, and he has turned himself into a great player. I'm glad he's in the division because it's rivalries with other great players that can lift a player up to the top of the heap. Maye is going to have to make himself as good as Allen is to reach his and the team's goals. Brady always knew he was going to have to beat Manning and it just made him work and play that much harder, it benefitted him greatly,

Realistically when you look at age, contract, trajectory and current performance is there any QB in the league you’d trade Drake Maye for?

No homer - but I can’t think of anyone.

is it just me or is Drake really good at protecting his wr’s? Those throws to diggs over the middle are always leading him away from the defender. On the miscommunication in miami it looked to me like drake was trying to guide diggs away from contact coming from the outside but diggs kept going out. Some of the sideline throws to boutte are lower and allows him to get down so the safety cant hit him high, saw one on the winning drive Sunday . Also heard people criticizing the throw to boutte against Carolina because boutte was wide open and had to fall down for it but there was a safety coming over , had the throw been ‘more accurate’ he likely wasn’t going any further and probably gets hit. IMO

I think the contract makes that a no brainer answer.

Just on pure play to win a game today there are a few guys, not that many though, I'd take over Drake.

A better question is; Assuming contract was the same, who do you want to be your QB the next decade?
I'd eliminate the QB's over 28, Burrow will be 29 this year, and Allen is already so out due to age. 5 years more of Maye in his prime over them.

The top QB's left in the discussion, IMO, are:

Love-26
Hurts-27
Daniels-24-will be 25 in December
Herbert-27
Maye-23

If they all cost the same over the next 10 years, who do you take?

My answer is easy since Maye was the best college prospect I saw at QB going back almost a decade and I believed when he was drafted, IF he was not in a bad situation, he'd be the NFL's best QB, or close to it, for a decade. But I know not everyone is that enthusiastic.

On tape I'd put Herbert as the next guy.
On rookie success and similar age, Daniels.
I would not choose either over Maye but those are the two I think you can make an argument for.

Not just you, he does a really good job at protecting his WRs most of the time. I also love that he puts the blame on himself afterwards by saying things like I missed it and threw behind or whatever, but he knows he is saving lives on those throws. It tells me that he has a pretty high football IQ. He has gone beyond my expectations for 5 games into the season, because he is making smarter plays every week and not as many dumbass plays.

I disagree about the throw to Booty, Had he got the ball while standing he had room for YAC. Maye had time to set his feet rather than throw on the run, but its a nit pick for me because he made the right decision with the ball.
