He is ridiculously humble. Postgame on the field : “we”, “the guys”, “get them the ball”…

Dare i say, Tom- like answers???

I really couldn't love his attitude and approach to the team aspect of the game any more than I already do. So many QBs come in with all the talent and potential in the world but can't get out of their own way when it comes to being a team leader without being arrogant and alienating people in the locker room.

Don't.

Diggs said it best after the game after reporters were trying to compare him to Josh Allen. "He's Drake Maye. He has to be Drake Maye." Let him be Drake Maye.

Not even going there, it is just EXACTLY the type of response early Tom used to give

If it wasn’t for Daniel Jones, Drake Maye would be in the middle of the MVP debate.

(Can you imagine the reaction to the above post if I made it in July as a prediction???)

I've been cautiously optimistic on Maye. I wanted to believe the hype, but just wanted to see a bit more. That last drive was something; not just that crazy throw to Diggs, but that throw to Boutte to follow it up was something special.

I like where this is going. If he can keep this up (and I see no reason not to believe he will), he has to be firmly in the MVP conversation and who knows what could happen this year.

It's Drake MAYEnia

That's the NFL for ya.

Where does Drake rank right now today?

#1 Mahomes (still need to put him 1 due to SB and playoff history)
#2 Allen
#3 Jackson
#4 Hurts (I don't see how he can be lower than 4th right now even with some issues)
#5 Burrow - I want to believe he's elite... but in the back of my mind i wonder how much is Chase, Higgins and those weapons. He's had 2 pretty decent playoff runs and he plays with a crap D.

I think for now you need to put these 5 above him.

#6 Goff?
#7 Love? They are both maybes.
#8 Herbert? has had pretty good teams and pretty good stats... but for all these years what has it led to? Some put him #6... frankly i see that as a possibility 6-9 could have some movement for sure.
#9 Mayfield has put up good stats the last 3 years with a really solid cast.... but it hasn't lead to all that many wins or much playoff success? Is he one of those stat machine QBs who put up numbers in good offenses but can't actually do anything with it like Cousins was and Prescott are?
#10/11 Stafford has a super bowl win sure... but he's so inconsistent... kind of a stat QB who sometimes puts up good numbers with good offenses and sometimes doesn't... He had 1 good run in the playoffs and beat a cincy team clearly not ready for that spot with an all star cast.
#10/11 Prescott is basically stafford without the run, likely cause he hasn't had as stacked a team where things didn't line up for him as much.
#12 Maye might be here... but I look at who is left and can confidently say he can't be worse. #12 right now i think is his absolute bottom.

Personally even though he has only played 17 games I'd him above a fair amount of these non-top 5 guys. I feel like right now #8 right now is kind of fair. Has he proven it 100%? But the eye test says right now he is better than a lot of those goes in this 6-11 tier... and is still improving.

Some opinions:

Time to rethink Mahomes at 1. Just hasn't been that guy for a while.

Your rankings give too much credit for career volume numbers. Which is fine for judging a career in the end, but not so much for ranking who's better right now.

Maye at 4.

Yeah his chemistry with Diggs is ridiculous: Maye is dangerous when he rolls out. Gotta call some rollouts to the left to even things out.
Hmm, the one throw he’d really like to have back was missing Douglas on a rollout to the left. Room for improvement.

I loved Maye in the draft. I was ecstatic when he fell to NE and they were able to draft him. Last season under Mayo was a coaching disaster, but even then he showed growth. The guy is unbelievably talented. He’s exactly what you want athletically in today’s NFL. And now he’s showing that he’s also got the mental aspect to be a high level QB. I couldn’t be more thrilled that he is a Patriot. Sky is the limit.

(Warning - overreaction homer post) If you were to conduct a hypothetical draft where every NFL player is in the draft pool, and you’re trying to build a winning team for the foreseeable future, not just win right away so age matters - Drake Maye could be the number one pick in that draft. I wouldn’t pick Daniels or any of the current crop of superstar QBs who are all 4-7 years older. As someone said in another thread, the window is now open.

That got tipped, I think it was Rousseau. It was a hell of a play by him.

Edit: I just saw it again, it was AJ Epenesa. Hell of a play by him. If he doesn't just get a thumb on it, it was 6.

You can't leave Jayden Daniels off he has the "It" factor: whooped the Chargers and the overrated Justin Herbert yesterday.

He has Lamar Jackson's 'it' factor.

The 'it' that keeps him on the sidelines in a walking boot for large stretches of the season.

Former Rookie of the year Jayden Daniels is a Tough fearless dude. His Team responds to him a natural born leader: you can see it. Washington know they have their QB and so do we with Drake Maye. Phew love it when Teams get that right.
