Against the run they, they have been elite so far only allowing a ridiculous 60 yards per game. James Cook will be a good test. Against the pass however, they are 3rd worst giving up 265 yards per game. Gonzo needs to get his ass back on the field. They are mediocre in total yards and points. It would be nice if the NFL stat geek take off special teams TD's or offensive turnovers for TD's as that skews the numbers on defense.

Gonzalez wanted to play against the Steelers, Vrabel held him out.

How about Romeo Crennel? Or maybe **** LeBeau? Or possibly Buddy Ryan?

You'd have to exhume Buddy Ryan first.

I think we can wait a little longer to see what Kuhn can do. I understand he sort of fell unvetted in to the job, but he's in the job now and seems to be doing at least passably well in a difficult situation.

Biggest thing I want to see is how they effectively backfill his responsibilities as LB coach. Face it, our LB play has not been as stellar as we expected and wanted. That, and the question of how much it has been affected by the DC situation, was a big part of my posting about this topic. I’m not as concerned about Zak Kuhr getting this gig unvetted, in fact I’ll accept that he was vetted by the guy who counts most in Vrabel. What I’m concerned about is him, and the rest of the defense staff, being spread too thin and whether some underachievement by the D is resulting.

They aren't going to bring in an outsider to call the plays. I'm sure Kuhr has been preparing for this possibility

I think that we have plenty of coaches. I think it reasonable to have one LB coach rather than two. Sure, we could bring in someone to help out with the coaching of LB's.
