P8ryts All Time Patriots team

I went with 2 TE’s and a FB because that’s my preference.

I went with a 3/4 defense just because.

I didn’t allow myself any ties although I was severely tempted to give myself an out.

Offense

QB Tom Brady

FB James Develin

TE Gronk

TE Ben Coates

WR Stanley Morgan

WR Julian Edelman

LT Bruce Armstrong

LG John Hannah

C Pete Brock

RG Logan Mankins

RT Sebastian Vollmer

Defense

RDE Richard Seymour

NT Vince Wilfork

LDE Trey Flowers

LOLB Willie McGinest

ILB Nick Buonoconti

ILB Tedy Bruschi

ROLB Andre Tippett

LCB Ty Law

RCB Raymond Clayborn

SS Rodney Harrison

FS Fred Marion

Special Teams

PR Troy Brown

KR Dave Meggett

K Adam Vinatieri

P Rich Camarillo

I won’t try to justify any of the controversial selections. This would be my team. Lot of great players left.
Any all-time patriot (or NFL) list without Randy Moss on it makes little sense to me.

Imagine if Randy had a year or two more of his prime from 2010-2012..him and Gronk would've feasted. Hernandez too

I am not a Moss lover. He quit on the team mid-season. He was essentially a one trick pony, run Randy run, see ball, catch ball, and he was great at that. His blocking technique was standing in the way. He is way down my list. I definitely would have Deion Branch over him. I prefer accountable, dirt scrabbling team players.

Randy Moss was one of the top 5 WR's OF ALL TIME,

It is hard to imagine a football fan thinking that Branch was better.

He didn't say better, he said he liked him more. Big difference. For example Tom Brady is the unquestioned best QB ever, for any game that matters, even so much as a preseason game, I'm taking him 11/10 times. I like winning and he is easily the greatest winner. All of that said if I was just watching some guys throw around the pigskin and hit each other with no more stakes then bragging rights? Id choose Bledsoe, he was more fun to watch for me. Note I don't think Drew is better then Tom, I just think he is more fun to watch thus like him better.

I think winning is fun the rest is BS.

Imagine it.

For me, this type of list should be strictly about a player's time with the Patriots.
What Randy Moss did elsewhere with other team's is irrelevant.
Otherwise we would be including Darrelle Revis and Junior Seau, for example.

Moss had one spectacular season with the Patriots and two very good ones, but he only ranks 12th in franchise history in receiving yards - behind Jim Colclough, Terry Glenn, Gino Cappelletti and Deion Branch.

He ranks 15th in receptions, just ahead of Jakobi Meyers, Danny Amendola and Vincent Brisby.

He was here for just 52 games, which is less than Kendrick Bourne's total.

There's a reason why Moss and Curtis Martin are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but not the Patriots Hall of Fame: they weren't on the team long enough.

.
fair enough

So, the list isn't about the best patriot players.

I'm not sure where you got where Moss quit on them midseason. He was upset he wasn't getting extended, and his last game was against the Dolphins in week 4. He wasn't the same player when he came to NE in 2007 and was similar to Corey Dillon in 2004 with 1-2 years left in the tank. With that said, the whole situation was handled poorly and his presence alone could've had teams at least respect him. I'd rather take a potential Super Bowl over a 3rd round pick.

So you would prefer this list to simply be the best NFL players that ever wore a Pats uniform?

If so, then it should automatically include Darrelle Revis and Junior Seau, along with Moss and Curtis Martin.

Consideration should also be given to Steve McMichael, James Harrison, Ted Washington and Harold Jackson.

I'm happy with listing Law and Haynes.

And yes, I would consider Martin when considering the best patriot RB's. This wouldn't be an issue had he moved on the the saints.

Coaches:
HC: BB
OC: Josh over Weis
DC: Romeo over Patricia
OL: Scar

I did exaggerate saying midseason, but still in season. I did not believe he was giving his all when he was out there. I considered a whiney pouty athlete. I might have been wrong, but I did not believe so.

No Geno? The old timers are gonna be pissed.

When tallying up an all time team, guys who were here a short time, or who made bigger marks elsewhere, are hard to place. I look at it and ask “does this player alter the history of the team?” If the answer is yes, then the player belongs.

Martin - absolutely, we don’t make Super Bowl 31 without him.

Moss - absolutely, 2007 doesn’t happen without him.

Haynes - yes, his Raiders days are better known, but he played half a career here and was the second best player on what was, at the time, the best Patriots team ever assembled.

Revis - Maybe. It could be argued that we don’t win SB 49 without him, but that starting 22 was stacked and ultimately the offense finished the job.

Seau - nope, role player.

Buoniconti - no idea, too deep into the past for me to assess.

Where is Gilmore? He was THE best in the game for 1.5 years. We don’t sniff SB 53 without him. RayClay is a favorite here, but he never contender for a dpoy.
