Gonzo back?

Let's just say he'll be "BACK-ISH.

Of course, then there will be those idiots who will plotz the moment someone catches a pass on him despite not playing since late July, because they knew a guy who once walked on a broken leg. The level of stupidity on this site seems to grow deeper every day.

I think Patjew is right. It is more likely that he gets SOME work in this week with the team and gets some snaps in the next. It's not only right, it's the prudent thing.

And I... have the right to talk because a couple of years ago I had HEART SURGERY where they send a catheter into my heart. I had the procedure at 8 and walked out of the hospital with no restrictions at 10:30. Heart surgery guys! So I must REALLY be a ****in' tough guy. Not like this mutt Gonzales because we ALL know that heart surgeries and ACL's and hamstrings are all exactly the same and have the same effect on people.

Is there some sort of very flexible bubble wrap he could wear?

Yeah. Selfish part of me wants him out there in what will be a very pivotal game for tiebreakers.

Personally I don't think any games this season are pivotal.

Personally I have no investment in any playoff scenarios.

All I want to see is development.

It's nice if wins come with that, but also nice to have good draft position since it's clear we are not a contender yet.

But losing him again from rushing him out too early would be a much bigger loss. Gotta think big picture.

It's one thing to bring in a guy who had a full preseason to condition then tweaked a hammy.

This guy had no preseason at all which pretty much means that he is just now working his way back into playing shape.

I guess we'll find out where the staff feels he is on that curve, but feel that it's better to err on the side of caution.

This is a good move for him. The media talk is that he's soft, acting diva like and speculate that Vrabel doesn't like soft guys. Also, he's eligible for an extension after this season. The more he plays, the better the chances he gets the Brinks truck backed up. Bobby isn't going to pay him if barely plays this season.

With that said, we need to get used to it. This is the new NFL where guys get paid, then injured or take games off.

Let me guess, "the media" means Felger and Mazz, amiright?

“Look at Christine Gonzalez out there! Bill Parcells was right all along! Get the groceries!”

Why the **** was Sanu returning punts? **** you Bill!

Idk, ultimately we are 1-1 right now.

Regardless of how you feel about where we stand development wise, to not approach as if you have a chance to make the playoffs would be silly.

Agree that development is key right now, but I also don’t want to see them pack it in just because the team isn’t a finished product. At least not until we’d be out of contention.

I think either way, not rushing Gonzo back is of the best interest for both short and long term. Gonzo reaggravating this injury hurts his long term development as well.

I think his agent agrees with you. But your right don’t want him playing two games and then he’s done for the season.

IMO from a developmental point of view I think there's a lot more negative teaching points on the video of the MIA game than positive ones.

It's a win primarily because a bottom-teir team, MIA, made more mistakes than we did, IMO.

I feel that using the allure of the playoffs as a motivational tool is not likely to pay dividends.

I guess I still have that BB approach of using criticism rather than praise to get the best performances drilled into my brain.

We have no idea regarding to who wants Gonzo to play and who wants him to wait.
PLAYER?
AGENT?
COACH?

No, but they are the media. It was Zolak and Bertrand. Bertrand is more annoyed with him, but Zolak didn't like how Gonzalez is doing media stuff while he's injured.

That's the million dollar question. Why would you put a guy who's returned one career punt back there when you traded for him because you were desperate at WR? Sanu should've said no, but too many of these players can't speak up to coaches and only do it on social media or through media. Deebo Samuel was another guy who complained he didn't want to be a RB for the 49ers, yet did it anyways.

Dont play him, unless he is 100%, cant risk losing him for another 8 weeks. While our guys struggled in MIami the Pittsburg Offense doesnt have nearly the speed or even skills of the Miami recievers as a whole.

Just checking: you do realize that they are performers/entertainers and not journalists/analysts, right?

Their job is to say whatever they need to say to build engagement, not to tell the truth.

Steelers passed on Gonzalez and took Brodrick Jones because they didn't like his pre draft visit. They didn't like his attitude and an answer to a question as to why he transferred from Colorado to Oregon.

I am tempering my expectations. It's true that he has played nearly one complete season, but he seems fragile and slow to heal. If he's back, healthy and plays the season out, he transforms this D.
