Gonzo back?

I really hope they protect him from himself in slow burning this ramp up into play speed.
I still doubt he plays this week. You'd think they want to not jeopardize any longer term issue with a long season
I was thinking about that. I’d assume that a lot of the “ramping up” was done during rehab, before he was cleared to practice.

Problem otherwise is that no player is going to dog it below full play speed if he’s on the field for a game preparation practice and the ball comes his way. Instinctscwillmtake over and he will go balls to the wall going for the ball. Thinking he can go at less than full speed just sets up reinjury.

"Going to do some stuff" isn't quite the same as listing him as "Probable."
Yes, they need him.
However, he had part of one padded practice all offseason.
Hamstrings can get injured again if you don't ramp up slowly.
Obviously a great sign - moving in the right direction - but doesn't clarify timing.
"Probable" no longer exists anyway.

If he wants to cash in he needs to show he is durable, or there needs to be injury offset language in his contract.
I think there will be anyways... there's always injury language in a players contract.. even more language for Great players with injury concerns..

This is a good move for him. The media talk is that he's soft, acting diva like and speculate that Vrabel doesn't like soft guys. Also, he's eligible for an extension after this season. The more he plays, the better the chances he gets the Brinks truck backed up. Bobby isn't going to pay him if barely plays this season.

With that said, we need to get used to it. This is the new NFL where guys get paid, then injured or take games off.
Yep! Phillip Rivers played the AFCCG with a torn ACL, Logan mankins played an entire season with a knee injury... do you believe gonzo plays Sunday??

*well almost everywhere, some whining noises have been heard emanating from the area surrounding the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers
Does Sam Bam live in that area?

Rivers was an absolute idiot playing in that game and was trying to be a hero. We really don't know the severity of the injury, but players do hear the noise and/or understand a big contract is at stake. Case in point, after Sanu got injured on the punt return in 2019, he rushed himself back because he felt the pressure of being traded for a 2nd round pick. He regretted that and blames that decision on why he never got back to his prior form.

In regards to Gonzo, I think he plays very soon. Unless his injury is more severe than we know, he's risking losing a new deal in the off-season.

My guess is he gets back into the swing of things this week but doesn't play until the following week. And I am OK with that, Gonzo.
Just noticed the JAJ under your name.
Showing that sly sense of humor.

That is fantastic news. Not sure if he will be out there Sunday but like PJ said if hes back for Carolina ill gladly take it

Yeah. Selfish part of me wants him out there in what will be a very pivotal game for tiebreakers.

But losing him again from rushing him out too early would be a much bigger loss. Gotta think big picture.

I’m on the other side of that fence, I think if he’s fit enough to practice then he will get out on the field on Sunday too. He probably won’t get a full slate of snaps but would be surprised if he practices all week and then doesn’t play at all.

Agreed. Player's realistically only have one real shot at cashing in for a lucrative contract so the guaranteed $$ is always paramount. As you mentioned guys feel the pressure of draft status, trade compensation and also knowing like in gonzo situation that a lucrative contract is imminent for him.

I think gonzo wants to be out there and that Vrabel's likely told him " look gonzo your our best player and I want you to get paid however I also want you to be available for the team. So let's come up with a plan that works for everyone " that may have been the reason Gonzo was out so long. Vrabel's even mentioned little nuggets earlier in the offense that gave me that sense. If he practices again this week his availability against the steelers could be likely?

I believe his long Absence was all part of he and the teams plans for him. Vrabel knows full well how valuable Gonzo is. Hamstrings are such complex injuries.

And I am OK with that, too! I just see an easing-back-into-things approach.

Is there some sort of very flexible bubble wrap he could wear?

This is good new about Gonzalez . I think the more important thing is how he recovers on Thursday and Friday. He needs to play as soon as he safely can.

Wouldn't bother me but would be surprised. At least this is a week where I think they're less impacted by him being out. Davis can take Metcalf, and then the Steelers don't have much else after that. It's not a Hill+Waddle situation like last week. But ultimately the defense will take a huge step up once he's slotted back in.
