Vrabel: Terrell Williams to miss next few days for "tests"

Tests? They must be looking at the dudes head this time...

wtf was he thinking dropping both Barmore & Williams into pass coverage... something has to be off

Woof. Hope he gets onto a good health path in life. Could be the stress of the job catching up? Who knows.

This place amazes me. The guy had a health issue and all the resident geniuses think it’s their business to tell him what to do with his life.
There isn’t a topic that comes up any more without cringeworthy and embarrassing responses and the volume of them keeps increasing.

Does anyone really think that any person reading this board cares what your medical and retirement advice is to the Patriots DC?
Unbelievable.

I know you're not new here, bud.

His health issues are hampering development of the defense. He was absent this spring and now he's absent at a critical time where adjustments need to be made based on week one results. Pay him off and promote one of the assistants. This advice is aimed at the team, not at the Williams.

There is a point at which you have to take a season off for yourself and for the team.

NFL football isn’t like many other “jobs”…you can’t just regularly work remotely and dip out.

This dude is not healthy and needs to get healthy above all.
This is the reality unfortunately

Unfortunately it might be approaching a point where Williams has to make a decision but we have no way of knowing that and at the very least it seems like we can wait until Vrabel gets a chance to follow up with him in a few days before going that far.

But Kuhn's here either way so we either get him back and he can still help or we don't so what would be the benefit of us just cutting ties?

This has the feel of a public health scare - where they say there may be bacteria in the back sink of a grocery store and they need to shut it down for testing for a day. And while everyone goes to the store across the street they freaking demolish the entire building and within a week no one remembers there used to be a store there.

T.Will, you just got Wally Pipp'ed

Hopefully these are just follow up tests to see how he’s coming along and not something new.

Geez. At least Vrabel seems to have a lot of confidence in Zach Kuhr. Downside is that if Kuhr does do well, he'll definitely get poached for a DC job in a year or two.
If he does well, I suspect he'll be our DC instead (much sooner than later).

If Williams really does have long term issues perhaps he can move to more of an advisory role in a year or two. It would be too bad to lose him entirely.

I presume that Williams is under contract. I do NOT see the downside to the team of him being primarily an advisor for the rest of THIS year. There is ZERO reason to cut ties with him.

Of course, if the tests are merely follow-ups on a continuing path to recovery, then fine. However, I don't see the reason for the big announcement if that were the case.

Unfortunately, according to Vrabel, this is something new.

I sympathize. I hate being told what to do myself. But he can't keep doing this to himself and the team. If he isn't willing to do it, then the team has to. You never want to become the 'cautionary tale'.

Yep, you are right. We will have to see what happens.

my assumption is that Kur taking over would be fairly seamless. Vrabel also more than likely spending more time with the D, leaving the O in McD's hands 100%.

Can’t know for sure based upon what’s been said in the media.

Looking at it from a distance I would break it down as follows:

He had an episode of syncope/pre-syncope (he lost consciousness/came close to losing consciousness/“felt dizzy”)on the sidelines earlier.

They took him in and did a round of tests to rule out sudden big bads: that he was having a stroke or HA. So they scanned his head and ran his enzymes. This was negative so they sent him out with a dx of vasovagal episode “he fainted” because he was dehydrated. This is a diagnosis of exclusion: there is no test that confirms it, just means everything else was negative.

Then it happened again. So he needs a more complete w/u where they scan his carotids (probably done already) and a holter monitor to look for arrhythmia (got to wear it for a week or two). Maybe a spot EEG although that may have been done the first time and is fast.

Pats probably shouldn’t let him back in the building until he’s cleared. That will take time.

I legit wish him all the best. Some things are more important than football.

We need to move on.

what Vrabel did say is that the current situation is not related to the prior situation.
I agree both he and the team need to take some time.

Defense played well on Sunday. Hoping that can continue. At least they can prepare knowing he won't make the flight
