OT: Huge Discrepancy in Diggs' Playing Time (Update 9/12: The NFL Finally Corrected It)

If you are using NFL PRO all 22 you can just type his name in and gives you just his plays.
Diggs had 35. Boutte had 62. I watched all 35 Diggs and he was in there but did not watch all 62 for Boutte...
So maybe you or them mixed up Boutte and Diggs?
It's the uniforms. Or Ian's eyes according to his wife.

Really dumb question — I’m assuming you have to pay for the all-22 and that the NFL doesn’t post this on its website for free, right?

I use the one from NFL Plus. And the old one the league had gave access to that stuff, NFL Plus doesn't. Although, it sounds like if the league missed it, they wouldn't include it, which still might cause an issue.

For example, they ran 75 plays. Four were negated by pre-snap penalties, which is how the league has its final total at 71 (Campbell,Wilson,Bradbury,Onwenu,Moses, and Maye played 100% of those snaps).

Based on what you said on Boutte, that checks. Boutte was out there for 62 of those 75, four of those were negated by presnap penalties (58).

Diggs was out there for 42 of that 75, with two of those plays being negated by presnap penalties (40). So the league seems to be missing 7 plays for Diggs.

What does it say for Hollins? I have 40 for him, two of his were negated by pre-snap penalties (38).

All the other totals match 100% for everyone else.

I have a radical theory. I think the NFL has dumped this mundane task on an unpaid intern that's bored out of their minds half paying attention to the game film while scrolling on their phone.

I know I had a hard time differentiating Boutte and Diggs at times because they have a similar size and are wearing "8" and "9" respectively, where the font looks very similar. I wonder if that's contributing.
Tom Brady is right. The number system has got to go. I constantly have to look people up because of all these weird numbers they have.

FYI Diggs has dark gloves, Boutte had white gloves. I think Diggs was only receiver with the dark gloves
I didn't even know this existed, which is helpful. I added a column on my playsheet and time-stamped each play the second time through, but this is pretty cool.

Give me a sec - I'm going to review this one (NFL Pro) and then look at the ones I have him in on and double-check those.

That was my theory. Either an intern, or someone else who doesn't give a **** and can't imagine that anyone could or would call them out on it. They underestimate our nerd factor!

Or, since the game is video recorded from multiple views, AI (via number recognition) can do the counting in seconds. Takes a special one-time algorithm (I think) that they might be updating (perfecting) therefore the number of plays are updated as the software is updated.

Only cow @KCSVEN , that made it super easy. I could just match my timestamps against it and it doesn't go all dark when I mouse over it. Although the below are the ones I had already grabbed to confirm:

Here are the six plays they're missing:

They're missing him at 2nd QTR 11:39

2nd QTR 11:14:

2nd QTR 9:52:

2nd QTR 9:48 (3rd-and-17 - the play after the penalty)

2nd QTR: 7:21

And then 4th QTR 14:31

So there's the six (the penalty out of that 35 makes it 34, which is what they list), which accounts for the 40 that I have.

I'm going to look up Hollins next to see where they're missing him.

On Hollins, they're missing him at
QTR 2: 12:16

And

QTR2: 10:29

So that takes care of the two they're missing. All of the ones I have match the 36 they have, with the above being the two they're missing to bring it to my total of 38.

Appreciate you pointing this tool out @KCSVEN . This is actually how their old tool used to work back in the day and it's been frustrating not having it. This is absolutely a game-changer, so thank you.

LOL, with two kids (now adults), it's always been a skill, she doesn't miss anything. I win very few arguments, and I've learned to know that she's generally right the majority of the time. Very little slips past her, so I tend to be on the wrong end of things from that standpoint. @Ross12 has young kids, and I don't know how his wife is, but he's probably going through that also.
You actually win arguments?

Diggs started to affect the game in the 2nd half... which is ironically when we went cold.
I hope there's no correlation.

Either way, he needs to get a lot more snaps this week. Much less of Hollins.
And start working Williams in a few more - just for some deep shots to keep D honest, which we didn't do at all.

If they’re using what I think they are (aws) their aws dude needs to get his sht together. They probably have some automated system running through this and calculating things with a human there to verify it. I’m curious if any other teams have similar discrepancies. If it was already answered, apologies…and I said aws because of all the ads for it I’ve seen when I get a chance to watch a game…so much for ai always being right (if they’re using it)….

Boutte's ceiling is Diggs book it.
Boutte and Diggs are very similar physically. I don’t know if Boutte has that dog in him though…similar to B. Cooks. We’ll see.

Not a dumb question at all. It's part of the NFL+ subscription, which also did include the preseason games along with the game replays.

The Edelman stories about BB are hilarious. They never get old.
He's been busy the last few weeks. I listened to the podcast with Vince. But I still have to listen to the one with Lorenzo Neal, Pierce, and a second one he did with Ernie. The Ernie one is next for me.

Hopefully you get to deduct that from taxes or something.
